You are not better just because you're a Warrior, and yes you can be just as good as a Paladin or Dark Knight. Good tanking depends on the player knowing how and when to use his or her skills. That is it, I don't care about all this who's the most OP nonsense, or who does the best damage mitigation. I didn't level my drk all the way to 60 to be pressured into quitting. Just enjoy your class. Nobody is the best.

The tanks are not equal; their differences are what make them interesting. They are however, viable in all current content in their current state. (With varying degrees of difficulty in various scenarios due to their differences)

The moment all tanks are equal i quit tanking.
The tanks have to be balanced in the advantages and disadvantages they have.
It is a good thing they are not equal overall.
And it's a pity they are not more different in mechanics, advantages and disadvantages.

There is no need to quit your main job just for casual endgame. In a bleeding edge/progression static it's different, if you cant minimize your disadvantages and maximize your advantages you have to change to a better fitting party composition including changeing jobs.

You can still do that though, people are clearing A7S as tanks with ilvl220 gear. By full right side 240 we'll be overflowing with enough vit to get away with STR acc w/ vit V's

1. No one is being pressured into leaving a class. Who's doing this? No one's doing this.This is a phantom complaint. Paladins stopped getting shelved in 3.0 as soon as the dps in their coils geared up enough to not need tank dps to cheese the savage fights.

2. Where are the warriors running around saying they're better than everyone? Another phantom complaint. All the posters in this tanking forum are mostly respectful to each other. (Well maybe not to that one guy, but he's a troll. ) There are BALANCING complaints, and lengthy debate, but most of us aren't being histrionic about it, and the ones who do get corrected in a hurry.

3. Players are mostly concerned with optimization and efficiency. The tanks might be within striking distance of each other, but if you're pushing progression without including a warrior in your group, then you're gimping your raid, and that is a valid concern that'll hopefully be adressed one day.

By the time you're that overgeared why would you even touch STR gear? If you still need an extra 80det/crit/ss at that point I'd say there are much bigger problems.

You're all missing the point, and talking about stats. I'm talking about how it doesn't matter what tank it is, its the person knowing how to use it. So yes, they are all equal. Its the human controlling them that matters. Warriors need to get off me, you're not actually OP.

I empathize, but unfortunately this game's playerbase doesn't always work like that. The tanks aren't equal. Yes a skilled PLD/DRK is a better choice than a less skilled WAR, but if they're all equally skilled, most groups will pick the WAR if given the chance.

Its also not even just about competition between players. If you have all 3 tanks leveled most groups will take advantage of that and have you ping-pong between roles for encounters, a tactic that is enabled by this game not having true "alts" and being able to have every job leveled on a single character, discouraging people from simply working with what a skilled player is bringing to the table regardless of job. But I digress.
