Few questions about levelling and actions

    Hi

I recently started playing FFXIV around a month ago, I roughly play for around 2 hours a night. My average gameplay time is around 30 hours total.I'm now a lvl46 lancer/dragoon and finding it very difficult to level up. I've been doing FATE's at my level, levehests and guildhests.

    I'm wondering:

    - What's the fastest way to level up between 45-60?
Im part of a FC that uses their bonus, and use food for the extra 3% but still finding it hard to level up fast.

    - What's the best rotations/combos to use as a Lnc/Drg?
My hotbar is kinda messed up - I really only use Heavy thrust, vorpal thrust, jump, rings of doom etc.. not too clued up on the best combos so help with this would be great.

Im doing dungeons, dailies and FATE's, I feel like there is a lot I have missed so if anyone can give me any of their tips then please feel free.I hope this is clear enough what I'm asking for, sorry if I've repeated myself.

    Thanks!

I notice you didn't mention your Hunting Log. You should be filling that out. If you haven't been doing it much, you'll want to catch up on it. Also, the duty roulettes give you a nice chunk of experience the first time you do them each day, so you should be looking at those.

Well i havent leveled a dragoon, so no specific info there. Generally id just say look for the moves that combo off of and into each other, and note any positional bonuses. Ill let an expert give you better advice there.

As for leveling, you dont sound like youre too far off. Dungeons close to your level and fates give a pretty good return, and dungeons not close to your level still do well with a roulette bonus added on. Keep advancing the storyline quest when you can, as this is your main avenue to open more content. However, the dungeons closest to your level are actually optional unlocks you can find quests for. Theres one at level 44 and another at 47 if you havent opened them up yet. Beyond the FC and food bonus, when you log off try to do so in a town or sanctuary for the "rested" bonus too. It all adds up.

You're in one of the leveling lag points right now because of a gap in the main scenario quests. If you aren't caught up on main scenario quests you should do those. As mentioned, do your hunting log also. Make sure you also do the leveling roulette instead of just doing a particular dungeon. Try to complete some of the challenge log each week. Also look at guildhests - they give a bonus the first time you do them. Pick up the beast tribe quests as soon as you can in Heavensward - they will help for getting to 60.
At 47 unlock Aurum Vale and start running that.

The weekly Challenge Log both gives some nice XP bonuses and in the course of doing so suggests a variety of activities which would give you some good XP on their own. (It feels less grindy if you spread out your leveling efforts between some dungeons, some FATEs, some guildhests, some levequests, and so on, rather than just picking one and repeating it continually. The Challenge log seems to have been designed to encourage a bit of variety there, which I think is a good thing.)

    Your combos are as follows:

Impulse Drive > Disembowel > Chaos Thrust (you'll get this last one at level 50).

True Thrust > Vorpal Thrust > Full Thrust

You'll want to keep your Heavy Thrust buff up as much as possible since it's a 15% damage increase. You'll also want to start with your Impulse Drive > Disembowel combo, as Disembowel puts a piercing damage vulnerability debuff in the enemy, also resulting in more damage (by you as well as bards and machinists), and the final link in that combo, Chaos Thrust, will put a DoT on the enemy. Phlebotomize is also a DoT skill, so use that as necessary. Full Thrust, if combo'd properly, will be your biggest hitting skill, so start on that combo after you've done the Impulse Drive one to start dishing out the big damage. After that reapply combos, buffs and debuffs as needed.

Doomspike is actually your hardest hitting AoE skill, but you have to make sure you're positioned properly because it only hits enemies in front of you.

    ---Attack buffs---
Is Heavy Thrust up? If not, put it up.
Are Blood for Blood, and possibly Internal Release up? If not, put them up if they're available, preferably weaving them between GCD moves going forward. Obviously don't use Blood for Blood if soloing something that may be a threat.
    ---AoE required?---
Are there 3 or more monsters? If so spam Doom Spike if you can get all the mobs in a line in front of you or Ring of Thorns if you can't and ignore the next section.
    ---One or two targets only---
Is Disembowel up (or has 6 seconds or less on it?) Combo into it. Proceed into Chaos Thrust after once you have it.
Is Phlebotomize up? If not, put it up.
All the above good? Do your standard Full Thrust combo.
    ---off-GCD usage---
Leg Sweep, Jump, Spineshatter Dive, or Dragonfire Dive available? Use them (Unless the fight has mechanics that need to be stunned, then don't use Leg Sweep) in-between your GCD moves.
Use Power Surge before your standard Jump, and use Life Surge before comboing into Full Thrust.

That's the basic guidelines I follow, from top to bottom. Sadly my DRG is only 53 at the moment so I can't speak about later abilities (Only 50+ ability I have is Battle Litany, which should just go alongside Blood for Blood and Internal Release.)
