Current state of the Mac client

So..what is the current state of the client?
Is it working (well)?

A friend recently moved to the US with nothing but her MacBook Air and wants to know if the client got optimized by now and if anyone has experience with running the Mac client on the same system as hers (and how well it works there °-°).

A MacBook Air isn't supported. You need a desktop Mac with a discrete GPU.

Has anyone ever tried it on the MacBook Air though? :/
I mean, the windows version often works fine on computers below the system requirements too, so could that be the case for the Mac version as well?:x

Even on a newer version of a MacBook Pro (Mid 2015, Raeon or w/e card, i can list specs if it's THAT important), it makes my laptop fans turn on starts to overheat like there is no tomorrow. I play on medium graphics, and it runs kinda slow in really crowded areas.

I would be super wary of playing on a MacBook Air. Like, super wary, as in, I would not even chance that.

I have...but I bootcamped into windows instead :v..
