Didn't they say they would eventually put in addon support?
They have several times, yes. Actually, one of the earlier announcements for it can be found at http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post1013136

A43: We just started working on an environment that players can use to create add-ons. Therefore, we should be able to provide an update around 8 months after launch.

A20: While the feature can be implemented, it’s currently masked. It’s currently masked because we would like to prevent players from harassing each other just because they know they would never party together in the future. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully as we move forward.

Did they ever said how it was going in that supposed update 8 months later? If not then well they sure are late :P

I mean, I still want it, better late than never. Emphasis on the BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. Seriously, add-ons would be really nice; not just parsers but other quality of life things that comes with a more customizable UI would make the game far more enjoyable.

I'd like to also add that anyone who would use a parser to berate and do all sort of toxic things is probably already doing it. An actual in game parser would do more good than harm; people can actually openly help others with them without risking ourselves. Yeah there will be people who don't want to improve, but there are also people who would want to improve but don't even know of the issue to begin with. Having a parser would help them in actually noticing any deficiency in their gameplay so they would know that they have something to work on. It is kind of hard to improve your DPS when you don't even know what it is, let alone whether or not you are underachieving. The first step is identifying the problem.

People who oppose a parser are just the same as people trying to police language because it can be "offensive and used to harass".
I mean for real, guys, put your feet on the ground. Anything can be used to hurt anyone from chairs to powercables, napkins and oxygen (breathing kills you :c), a lala thrown at your head, a glock or a clock. What you want out is the, indeed, problematic people who use any tool to harass you.
It's very interesting to see what number did you hit and why, watching a graph of your dmg, a log of your rotation, the damage you took, comparing variations on rotations to see which is most benefitial.

Then again what it's not acceptable is a i205 pulling 400dps on Faust or someone not being able to kill Bismarck's carapace when you can do it half assed. Just, nope. If you want a carry, ask for it. Some will do it free, some will ask gil from you.

I'm on ps4 and I want a goddamn parser. I want to know how do I do in every fight and what I could do better, and asking people to parse me gets annoying sometimes. I couldn't care less about ego stroking, I want to do better to clear stuff more efficiently and help people easier.

Going slightly off-topic here, but relevant to the situation here.

Can SE add a parser that goes beyond simply displaying damage and healing. They have metrics for emnity as well, could we have a graph that shows emnity over time and how it compares to others? I tank a lot (or I will be once 4.0 hits most likely, even though I wanna raid as a healer). I want to see how I'm holding emnity over time compared to others, as well as my DPS compared to others.

As far as the parser goes, it's needed. I point blank refuse to use a parser while it could get me banned for simply HAVING one (don't give me all the blah blah about they can't tell, they ban if they catch whiff of you using a parser, I'm not using one while that is the case, not risking it). But at the same time it means I haven't got a freaking clue how to improve (I haven't touched any content since 3.2 came out though, so I'm not sure how S3 stacks up for telling you though). Am I overhealing too much, am I able to do more DPS during healing downtime, or maybe I'm rocking up way too much emnity such that I'm sacrificing DPS in place of emnity.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
