    3.2 DRK Melds & PIETY

So with the recent changes to gear that can hold materia and new crafted gears, can we consider PIE an option now in our gear?

If melding full crit or det is going to be the standard, how much of a % increase in dps would that be? Around 5% roughly?

If we fully melded piety onto our gear (pentameld), we'd be getting around another 500 piety (~2k Mp) which then equates to one extra dark arts usage. Would that equate to a higher dps amount than the 5% crit / det gives?

Also consider higher uptimes on defensive cooldowns that use dark arts.

I haven't worked out how much Piety you could get on the end game lore gears though, so it might only be viable if you could pentameld on the crafted gear.

Not sure if this would be any good, just thought it was interesting and i'm hoping to get some discussion about it going on here

No, because your MP costs/returns don't scale with your PIE stat, but your level.

You could stack enough PIE to have the MP of a WHM and it wouldn't change anything.

Your right side gear is 5 slots, all of which are filled with Strength V, because no way is 11 PIE > 15 STR in any situation. Right side (including weapon) is 13 slots, and Piety V is 11. 11x13 is 143 Piety maximum from fully filling out the remaining slots. For DRK, it's ~4.3 MP per Piety, so you'd gain ~614 extra Mana from those melds, Is that worth it?

No, definitely not. All of that could have been 156 CRT instead and boosted your crit rate by 3% or 156 DET and boost your damage by whatever %. PIE is absolutely the weakest meld you could do on your DRK gear.

You bring up a very good point(s), that's for clarifying

Unleash, Unmend and Abyssal Drain scale off AP which scales off STR & VIT with DRK. Yes, even when they are labeled as spells. To the original topic, no you don't want to meld piety it simply isn't worth it DPS wise.

A Piety V materia will get a DRK less than 50 MP. Fill up all your left side sockets with them and that's barely 500 MP.
