Should the Soul Gems be upgraded?

I was just thinking about it, and it's not like it really bothers me, but am I the only one who thinks it's a little weird that our soul crystals for our jobs stay atnitem level 30? I mean I haven't gotten through all the content so I may be wrong, but for some reason I feel like during upcoming patch they should probably upgrade the gems to at least being Level 60 like the level cap.

I think that's just a concession to how the system functions - that the equipment screen requires all gear equipped to have an item level set, and thus Soul Crystals are given an arbitrary item level that actually does not affect your overall average item level, the game's algorithm for determining average gear level simply ignores the Soul Crystal completely. At least, it's never seemed to affect the average. I've never seen it mentioned anywhere that there is evidence to suggest otherwise.

So really, just ignore the 'item level 30' on it - it actually does nothing to your actual overall item level in the game as far as can be seen.
