    Can we get more interesting materia?

    So now that materia is becoming more readily available through things like diadem, void ark and beast dailies and becoming a large part of how we customise our gear, could we get more interesting materia than just primary and secondary stats?

    Perhaps things like spell interruption rate reduction or cure effect recieved increased, enmity+/-, evasion+.
    Maybe we could get special materia with class/job specific effects like cover duration+ or jump recast-.

    Also a way to remove materia would be nice so we can adjust our setup, I think this would add a lot more variety to gear customisation and make playing with materia a lot more fun and interesting.

    I feel FFXIV's biggest weakness is its boring stats. I would be thrilled to see an overhaul to the stat system that gives us better stats, materia or otherwise.

    I would love to see the next tier of damage (for next major content release) being made up by 'party level' materia instead of raising ilvls with new gear and boring stats with along with them. Something inbetween a limit break and a grand summoning, a move that can be pulled off by the party, that maybe requires some button combo pressing from each players job to activate their part once the 'new materia skill' is activated by each party member.
    As summoning primals is against the lore of the story for adventurers, maybe some other type of grandeur manouver with that classic final fantasy jaw drop graphics ^^ I wanna go oooooooh!!

    Something like this could be a lot of fun, but it just wouldn't work in pug groups. SE have designed the game where 99% of the content is easily clearable just by hammering a single skill over and over, and now we are left where a portion of the playerbase do just that. Anything that requires any effort, ability or really anything more than hitting one button, never pans out. They reap what they sow.

    1. New content is introduced with something a bit different
    2. Most players cannot clear as they've never had to put in any effort before.
    3. Much QQing on the forums.
    4. SE nerf said content so everyone can just cheese through, ignoring all mechanics, dps checks and eating all aoes.
    5. Repeat.

    Materia with resistance to status effects would be a start. Or Materia that adds unique abilities. But no it's just boring stats and Elemental resist Materia remains useless.

    People have come up with some amazing ideas for implement this into the game. It all does boil down to that they will not add anything, at least at the moment, like this because they feel people will further restrict users to some content if they don't meet materia requirements.

    Though I'm all for this, it would put depth into the jobs. People could spec things a bit more how they wanted. You're not going to get away from people demanding the optimal gear or rotations be used during certain content. In the end it is not the game that makes the limitations, it is us as users.

    Someone had a wonderful idea mixed doing materia with traits and everything. It would make you feel like you've made your own custom character. It mainly revolved around FF9 trait system, spirit bonding mixed with materia. I think it could all work out. Just going to have to accept that people will be jerks but if you make content revolve around what's already in place, then everything additionally will be a bonus. Meaning someone who has Jump +or Cover enhance bonus' may get the "why don't you have this?!" treatment, but in the end will be able to clear content.

    That is true, we could use a boost to stats to make the more unique. For instance the magic resistance. Make it a base reduction instead of a % to completely nullify. Then add magic defense back to Mind. Now those who are going into magic heavy fights can stack on magic resistance but also someone like a PLD can do mind. Now we're adjusting stats that now to towards the already implemented materia

    Then there would be the argument of not only redoing your gear every time you want to adjust gameplay but also every time a new patch comes out. This is a different subject, but this is where horizontal progression could come into place. Which trickles down to multiple gear sets, on top of our struggling inventory space. So that would have to be resolved, though I think someone's advice to make a glamour book is a perfect idea. It really starts to add up once you start this process. It doesn't stop there..all that really trickles down to us needing one major QoL patch.

    How funny would that be. "Patch 3.9 Quality of Life!" and features Tataru on the cover.

    My suggestion could be to end the dragon war and 3.0 storyline, then take a nice long break to overhaul things as 4.0 approaches without the multiple major patches in between. This is a lot of work mind you. I think the end result would be worth it.

    More interesting stats, yes please! Problem is, they are useless to add unless they remove Crit materia
