No Map Markers

I don't understand why we can't place map markers. I don't know if it has been suggested (I'm sure it has). Maybe S-E believes it would aid gathering bots?

CTRL-RMOUSE, if you are on kb+m, don't remember how it works on a controller.

As poster above said, there are map markers and that is how you add them.

You can also type in chat <pos> to broadcast your position, or <flag> to broadcast your map marked position. People can click on those and the map marker is added to their map.

Two trigger buttons together while the map is up in the area you want the flag to be. It will automatically put in the flag command into your chat log.

We do have map markers now. Those above have mentioned how those are accessed/created.

Are you, perhaps, asking for permanent markers like we had on our maps in FFXI? I'm not sure that would be possible in XIV because the maps are stored serverside, not clientside like everything in XI was.

Right, permanent markers. I forget at times where certain items are gathered.
