Yoshi Please fix the repair NPC

So I was pretty happy when I heard that finally the repair NPC would repair our armor/weapons to 99% and the cost would be lowered.

But there is still one big problem in that the system doesn't recognise how damaged your gear is, if my item is 1% damaged im supposed to pay the same to fix it as if its 99 or 100% damaged.

I'm all for gill sinks but throwing money away for no reason is pointless, granted I have enough money to throw about but that's hardly the point.

Also why is it that when I tell the NPC that I want all my items repaired he lists them individually asking me to confirm the choice.

Should he not just calculate the cost of all the items and spit out a number based on the number of items and the amount they require to be fixed.

    Repairing armour should be:-

Talk to NPC > get the cost > one choice to fix all items.

Obviously provide an option for players who only want individual pieces of gear fixed but in most cases I think as long as the NPC doesn't rip us off by charging us more than the amount that is damage then most would happily choose to have all items fixed.

I sure hope that when the new UI in 2.0 comes in things like this will be made easy, similar to how other MMO's do it.

That being said you can still fix the issue where the NPC is charging the full repair cost for something which is only slightly damaged.

While I don't really mind a static cost regardless of durability loss, it would be nice if I got a complete "repair all" button, without having to individually confirm all items. The system doesn't /have/ to treat me like I don't know what I am doing

    This...

Also why is it that when I tell the NPC that I want all my items repaired he lists them individually asking me to confirm the choice.
    ....is to prevent/solve this problem:

But there is still one big problem in that the system doesn't recognise how damaged your gear is, if my item is 1% damaged im supposed to pay the same to fix it as if its 99 or 100% damaged.

In other word, being able to selectively "skip" or say "no" to repair NPC about each gear allows you to choose not to pay for the repair of gear piece which you feel "not damaged enough" to pay for the fee.

I don't use NPC repair unless I'm desperate or in a hurry and can't seek repair from players. And when I use NPC repair, I make sure I get optimal service per gil, which means, for me, to repair when gear is in red.

I like this one, though, because it's a hassle to choose each piece manually. Or maybe they can add another option for "Repair all at once" without listing them one by one for you.

You shouldn't need to have the choice, in other MMO you pay for what is repaired, if its 1% damaged you only have to pay 1% of the total cost of fixing the whole piece of armour, if its 100% damaged you pay the whole cost, its not rocket science.

Yeah, I agree. I often hold off on repairing until gear is pretty damn damaged before going in for repairs because of this, whereas otherwise I'd keep it repaired all the time, if I knew it would cost the same amount of money (or close, anyhow).

Of course, I think this is a bit less of an issue with the way repairs have been tweaked, since repairing isn't as frequent an occurence (since it doesn't matter until 1%) and repair NPCs are all over the place now.

Repairs from an NPC is supposed to just be an alternative to player repairs, not a replacement.

Well you could argue that player repairs are pointless now, I have a weaver high enough to repair most of my Con gear but rarely do because its time consuming, clunky and just a pain in the ass.

I would rather just run up to an NPC and get it fixed (like in any other MMO out there)

I beg to differ. I still make use of player repairs everyday, either by repairing my own gear or having friends repair mine. Moreover, NPC won't follow me out there into the field (I go far away from Aetheryte camp), in caves, or in dungeons. And seeing how they changed player repair so that we don't have to look for repair material anymore, but it gets put into the synthesis box automatically, player repair is not "pain in the ass." Dark Matters are also usually cheaper than paying the NPC, and we can also get free Dark Matters from gathering, treasure chest, or LQ reward, which reduce the cost even further. So nope, player repair is not pointless.

Not to mention, you sometimes save the repair material too, basically making it almost free, aside from time of course.
