    Stat caps

For the love of God, I'm trying to put together a gear set on ariyila, and I can't figure out what the stat caps are for secondaries cause I think I have way too much sks, then I don't know the barrier for crit. I looked on the website and still not finding any, anyone mind helping me out lol...

I don't think there are overall caps for different stats, Acc aside (but even then, the Acc cap goes up as you go from fight to fight). I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there aren't caps for the effectiveness of stats.

There may be a soft-cap SkS, but I don't think you can get to it yet.

When people talk about stat caps, they're talking about the caps on individual pieces of gear. On Ariyila's tool, you can see these in the melding window pretty clearly.

Are you talking about caps when you're melding?
I believe (but am not 100% certain) that all of the stats on blue gear (and High-quality crated gear) are already capped in all but the lower secondary stat. You can only add stats that are not there at all or are the lower of the two secondaries.

If you're talking about caps, something like "a character can't exceed 1000 crit total", there are none. You're only limited by the gear you wear.

EDIT-I forgot this, but skillspeed and spell speed do have a kind of cap, you can't go lower than a 1.5second recast timer. That's more skillspeed than you have available right now, I think.

I thougt so to untill i melded crit on my prototype midan headband of fending as a test. Arylias has the maximum of one stat you can meld in agiven peice of gear. Seems pretty random how its spread out to me.

If the rules on melding caps have not changed then you should be able to meld up to 19 Crit, 24 Det, or 24 Parry into the head piece.

Pretty much every piece of gear in FFXIV currently has 2 secondary stats. One is "high" and at the slot's stat cap for the item's ilevel, and the other is low and at about 70% of the slot's stat cap.

Yeah I edited that, sorry. The lower of the two secondaries is not capped.

Sorry I was referring to a soft cap for things like crit, skill speed, det...before melding to getting too much would negatively affect me, like too much sks that is.

No need to apologize! We're just trying to understand what you're asking.

As far as soft caps go, the only one that might have a soft cap is Skill Speed. PLD and DRK right now don't have any ability to recover TP in tank stance outside of MP-spam, which is only so effective. Skill Speed makes TP burn happen more quickly, which can make you floor your TP sooner. You might not see it in dungeons, but it will come up in longer fights (especially Savage encounters). But there is technically no soft cap that you can really reach to cause a stat to no longer be useful. Crit will keep making you Crit more and more often, SkS will make your attacks faster and shorten your GCD, and Det will amplify your abilities at a flat rate.

And parry will make you parry more and more often, taking less damage in the long run, but for some reason that's bad.

    Wat.
