How to cope with level locked content?

Hi guys! I've been leveling a summoner (lvl 35) and what I absolutely loathe is having to wait between main story quests. I've finished all MSQ for level 35 and I'm still halfway through to 36

Any advice how to pass the time? I've been doing dungeons and fates but the XP gain seems slow. Also, where can I find fates for 35?

Have you been doing sidequests? Generally that keeps you at the right level up till 45-49, and to my understanding that portion isn't nearly as bad now as it was at launch. Your hunting log too, that gives some good exp and completing all of it and talking to Jonathas will give you a lvl 50 ring.

If it still feels slow Coerthas Central fates might have parties up as many people use it as a way to level up their other jobs after the first, though I'm not sure if Shiva has many doing that.

Not just dungeons but the daily roulette helps a lot, pretty much gives a lvl a day

You can still go there if you wish, the Central Highlands isn't locked off, and in fact you'll be going there soon enough for the MSQ! But yes barring that the daily roulette also helps, that usually either gives a level or almost a full level.

Levequests and Duty Finder grind is my advice, if you haven't been doing the side-quests you may have lower level gear. The MSQ/Class Quests do up the difficulty fairly sharply (not, like, huge but I remember suddenly feeling under powered in the Coerthas Central Highlands.) You can also fate grind. MAKE SURE YOU'RE EATING FOOD. +3% xp boost may not sound like much, but it's a huge huge help. Also, you're hunting logs. If you're having trouble finding them, there's a hundred and one guides to finding them. I like ffiv.gamerescape.com because it's easy to access on my phone and gives a host of info for whatever it is I need.

(Also, doing the duty finder + fate grinding is an excellent way to also get seals for your Grand Company which leads to really lovely things like cool gear, fun barding for your Chocobo, and other nifty items.)

Easiest for your level is from North Shroud. From the crystal in that area head for the exit on the west.

One other thing no one mentioned(or i didnt see it if they did) was guildhests. Toss a few of those in with some leves dungeons fates and quests(and a roulette or two, why not?), and you should be through to the next story batch in no time. Also, did you unlock the level 35 dungeon(its a non-MSQ dungeon, so its optional)? If not, that might help too. The unlock quest is outside the waking sands if you need it.
