While not having Jumping and swimming does not break or make a game, it does prevent you from having content and gameplay aspects the competition has and that in marketing is a weakness no matter how you see it.
Jumping is not a "feature" unless it does something for gameplay (which it does in a few games, like WoW, and would be fine). Otherwise it's an emote bound to a single key.

Jumping is not some modern thing that's necessary for an MMO or any other game. There are still tons of games being made today that don't have a jump button, because it's not part of the way the game was designed. Do any of you rage when you're playing FFXIII because the lack of pointless hopping makes you feel "grounded?" How about in Tales of Vesperia? Mass Effect?

You're right that it doesn't really make the game unique for not having it. However, what I'd love to see is a system kind of like Assassin's Creed or inFAMOUS (though maybe not quite as exaggerated as some actions in those games) where your character does logical things based on the kind of obstacle. If it's a short step up or a pile of rocks, then take a big step over. If it's a five-foot ledge then grab onto it and hoist yourself up. If it's a gap with a fall, then you can jump over it, not five feet in the air with your whole body but leaping forward to clear it. That would definitely be unique in the MMO world, rather than just adding a generic "spacebar makes you jump," plus it would be something that could take advantage of SE's awesome motion capture for character animations.
