It's not like people are just midlessly following these tactics either. It all comes down to MP. Darkhold, especially Ogre, was about avoiding damage. In Ifrit, it's all about out-pacing his regen.

I've been in a few fights that mixed it up and had a mixture of classes and MP is just gone by Phase 2.

I imagine things will be different when 1.20 class changes and 1.21 jobs are released, but they need to come out and say that. Because right now it just seems like they're making crap up just to keep potential paying customers busy for a year.

It's not about trying as hard as someone else. It's about the fact that lancer craps out tp and has superior weapon skills. So far, if you leveled only a pugilist to 50, tough luck. You're the "fat kid" who thought all classes would be able to perform.

Is it too much to ask that a group can go in with Mrd/Pug/Lnc/Arc/Cnj/Thm/Gla/whatever repeat class? Or four pugs? Or three melees and a dd mage?
    Lol I totally called this...

100 bucks says the first party setup to kill Ifrit will be the "optimal" setup and the same shit happens again. But it's not because other party setups don't work, it's because many people don't want to waste the time trying different strategies, they'd rather go with what's been proven to work just to complete the content as quickly as possible. (I find this extremely humorous as these are the same players keep asking for "HARD" content, not realizing that the content is only "HARD" until a strategy is formed.) This is further emphasized by the small population, resulting in only a very small amount of players actually attempting different strategies.

So overall you have 80% of the population using the "optimal setup" while the other 20% are trying different things (just pulling numbers out of my ass, but that's probably pretty accurate). So it only appears that the "optimal setup" is more effective, simply because more players have completed it like that as opposed to those who've completed it with different setups.

Seriously people.. Use your heads and try different things out for yourselves. Party composition doesn't make a huge difference in this fight.

And BTW, PGL does very well in this fight.
