"Job XXX only" parties

Didn't the world first (JP Gyshal) have a pretty varied setup? I think this is a bogus thread, no one is asking for "only this class" or "only that class". Even pick ups have realized by now that focus by DD/Healers and not only a particular class is necessary.

Now "Sentinel {Do you have it?}" I could see.

Those people shouting for "this specific class for Ifrit", that will die out. People did Darkhold with arc because its easy, you can still fight the ogre and such with close up melee it just takes thought. Ifrit fight can be done with a lot of classes, we just ask for the easiest ones. I can't wait till next patch to see what they rip out of conj. If they give all nukes to thm and give conj some more useful HOTs or something, maybe we'll need less CNJ. Doubtful though. SE won't balance the mages particularly its ones more useful than the other. In this game the mage that heals is more useful that the mage that does damage. At least they beefed up lnc and mrd and such, so that they can enjoy the content also.

And I agree with murugan, Sentinel is prob one of the only things I can justify them asking for. But if you don't have Sentinel, and you're going to go to do an event with your main linkshell, don't ask one of your socials to PL your shield please, just do it yourself. Or don't do the Ifrit fight today man, sorry!

People are stupid who believe SE created a fight with only XXX class in mind. No it is the communities that create that not SE. Please turn your hate in the right direction.

The impression on SE may have started when Thamaturges lost the ability to area effect Cure and Sacrifice.

OP has a point, anyone who doesn't see it just hasn't been doing newer 'endgame' content as it releases. ARC would be at the center of this debate.. as when Darkhold released it was by far the optimal setup for clearing, and so parties tended to be stacked with ARCs initially. Same issue now.. as ARC was nerfed and has fallen to the lowest spot on the DPS totem pole it is unbelievably hard to just get a group for Ifrit.. not to mention a clear including ARCs.

Once the balancing is all 'done' I imagine the arguement of 'it's totally on the players' will hold weight, but until then, there definetly are STRONG handicap's for including certain DD or healing classes over others, on different content.

...and here we go again. People in Ul'dah shouting for "Job XXX only" for the LV50 Ifrit fight. For those of us who did not jump on the powerleveling bandwagon soon enough to get the jobs they do not really like to play leveled, it simply sucks.

It's astonishing SE actually managed to repeat the class-exclusivity mistake once again.

And don't tell me it's the players fault. It's a design flaw when the same content is easily beatable by job combination X, but a job combination Y will decrease your chances of success by factor 5. Especially since there's no alternative to Conjurers. Which people like to invite 3/8 members.

Just make your own party. Every class is useful in this fight, some are just better than others. Personally, I've killed 30+ times with PGL, it just takes a little more effort since I can't avoid Sear, but not impossible (I have since switched to LNC after getting the lance).

Point is, it's not "easily completed" with the right setup as you seem to think. Anyone that can complete it with a MRD/LNC/CON setup can complete it with any other setup. The fight is much more dependent on player skill than class choice. And chances are, if someone is shouting for specific classes, I'd say it's safe to assume you wouldn't be winning that fight anyways.

Class based games need certain classes to accomplish content.

Thats how it works.
