Didn't our class quests say something about summoning Ramuh & Bahamut? But oh, no. We apparently aren't good enough for summoning those two!
I felt and feel really screwed over =,=

I found it amusing and infuriating that they basically trolled us with the Ramuh-Egi on our class quest.
They are working on Egi glamours, last I heard. Don't know how high of a priority it is for their development team, however.
Since 2.0 they have been working on Egis... and forward to now, they are.. still working on them lol (yeah right)
Would be awesome: Shiva's Ice skill, Ramuh Lightning etc.. to have all Egi's from primals, it's what a Summoner should get, since we beat them..
I doubt that we'll see the light of that, sadly.
They are more concerned with how your glamour set will not cut your long hair.. (QoL issue I guess..)
They disappoint me with their choice of priorities in this game since 2.0 (was soo excited, everything was cool... but every good things have an end it seems T_T )

I want Shiva Egi.
And of course we are evil, we eat lalas every friday to the glory of Bahamut.

Basically the idea was that to actually summon a physical Egi of stronger Primals like Ramuh and Bahamut required more Aether than the summoner had in their reserves which was a problem the Allag discovered. However to get around this the Summoner's developed a way to effectively 'host' the powers of an primal Egi, for a short time giving themselves access to the abilities of said primal. This is what the Dreadwyrm Trance is.
They have however said they have plans for Egi 'glamours' to change our current Egi's so they look like other primals. Just adding more Egis they saw as a problem since there is only so much variety they can give them while keeping them all still relevant.

So they did tease Rumah in the story but explained that we did not have the aether to summon him. However according to the lore when we use Deadwyrm Trance we are summoning Bahmut however since we cannot maintain his physical form we are channeling him through our bodies.
Basically there are four forms of summoning so far
There is primal summoning which is what the ascians taught to the beast tribes to create havok, this is the destructive form of summoning the warrior of light fights against
There is egi summoning which we do by pulling the aether that rubbed off on us during primal fights out of ourselves in an elementally attuned area and giving it shape using formulas, this being limited by how much aether one person can hold, the reason we cannot summon a new egi is because we are already at our limit due to absorbing ifrit, titan, and garuda's aether thus there wasn't room for more. These egi's draw off of our aether and what they already have contained in themselves.
There is the summoning that the ascians use to bring out voidsent to fight for them.
And there is channeling a primal through yourself using the power of the echo, Lady Iceheart uses this to become Shiva, we use a more limited version of it to go in to dreadwyrm trance which is why we summon parts of bahamut that form over us temporarily, basically the dreadwyrm trance is the closest we have come to
"true summoning" as we are effectively being temporarily possessed by bahamut to do his moves just like Iceheart becomes temporarily possessed by Shiva.
It's possible that there are other ways of summoning primals that would be less harmful but we don't know about them yet since all we have seen are the ascians methods.

Nuu, Summoners are not evil D:
Only if they're Lalafells. Something that cute can't be trusted.
