    Are Summoners evil?

    ::Spoiler Alert::

    Taking this from the wiki about the Primals...

    "The Ascians have been teaching the means to summon primals, and for ancient Allag, the means to bind them. The creation of primals has an effect on Hydaelyn, seemingly as part of the goal to revive Zodiark."

    Since summoners learn their skills from the ancient Allag people who were taught these techniques. Does that mean that every time an egi is summoned that the Mother Crystal is damaged in some fashion since it states that primal summoning has negative effects on the flow of aether.

    Is it possible that by learning these techniques, that Summoner's themselves could become the source of Eorzea's destruction?

    Oh and give me more Egi's Square... stop being so tight. I want Shiva, Alexander, Ramuh, Bahumet and Ravana, all in egi form.

    You're confusing a full Primal with an egi though - which are two totally different things. Primals are a thoughtform, an idea made corporeal and given intelligence, and yes, they require enormous amounts of aether to sustain themselves. Egis on the other hand, are merely a small portion of elemental power that exists after a Primal has been summoned and defeated, think of it like mist left after a rain. A player SMN simply takes that elemental power and forms it into an egi, a construct vaguely mimicking the original Primal but devoid of will or intelligence. Of course, SMNs could use their power for selfish or evil, as Tristan did during the SMN Job quest line, but that's like any power - 'great power comes great responsibility' and all that.

    Also, an egi is summoned using the SMN's own aether, not the land's (Hydaelyn's), so Hydaelyn Herself is not damaged by SMNs summoning Egis, only summoning Primals or other aetheric 'entities'. This is also the reason why we don't yet have egi versions of Ramuh, Shiva, Leviathan or other Primals - we simply lack enough aether in our body to sustain such egis at this time. It's definitely possible in the future though....

    Thank you for a very easy clarification. It did confuse me if Primals were this big, life-sucking things, then why could summoners use them without negative effects but you've answered that for me.

    No playable class is evil, considering we're all doing the same content for the greater good.

    Should point out that there are some on these forums that question if we are doing the right thing and if "The Greater Good" is truly the best choice for the realm.

    On a serious note, no PC summoners aren't evil outside of RPs.

    We could use the light crystals as a power sources, but it will kill us after the power run out.
