Roll-squatters, Loot Time Limits and those who never roll.

Another week, another reset of the locked gears/springs/bolts of Midas that people currently want their hands on.

So you think, after beating the bosses with a somewhat newbish group that had 2 or more players to the duty, you would get your chance on your just reward and be on your way?

Think again - If you are unlucky, you're stuck with a roll-squatter.

So who are those guys, you ask?
In short, those less delightful individuals take their sweet, sweet time during their roll after the defeat of the boss, making the others either wait for them, or they become frustrated and leave, automatically passing on the roll and increasing the odds for them to get their item.
And don't tell me you never had one one of those - Where you realize someone is sitting out on the roll, and give out a annoyed groan from your lips as the eyes also take a roll in your sockets.

I mean, who has the patience to sit out 5 Minutes just for someone to eventually roll on the gear - Especially in faster raids like Alexander?

Which brings me to the topic of people who never even bother to roll in the first place in lower dungeons:
You have to wait for 5 minutes to pass to get eventually the item that is a upgrade for your Monk, just because that synched-down level 60 tank in his Leveling Roulette isn't even bothering to look at the loot table and lets that pink speck of a notification rot in the lower right corner of his/her HUD.

So I suggest a reduced a reduced roll timer here - 90 to 120 seconds seem to suffice for nearly everything.

I mean, it's just pressing a few buttons, how hard can that be, right?

    Right?

I'll sit on one roll if I want something specific, in hopes that the other 3 parts are distributed first and my chances are better.

I wish we had an auto-pass option that could be used in lower level dungeons though.

I've been lucky and haven't had anyone do this in quite a long time.

Well, not in Alex at least. In dungeons it seems like 9/10 times someone doesn't roll on any of the gear and they just let the timer run out every time. But I don't need dungeon gear so no biggie.

I remember back in the WoD days if the minion dropped you could bet your ass you were going to be waiting the entire timer until they roll.

What's even worse is when you wait out that whole timer with a 97, only to lose to a 98

Still as present as always, especially with the potential rewards like minions in dungeons and that fancy Coffin Lid for that bed from VA.

This does remind me of that gif with Clint Eastwood and two others, looking at eachother in a standoff - Same scenario in the game, with all having rolled except That One Person.

I tan out and be productive for 5 minutes or so.
Maybe refill my coffee... Catch up on an anime....

I might need to redefine "productive" but if someone wants a wait-off, I've got all day baby.

I find once I sit down and make a comment about getting comfortable they tend to roll.

I also think it might be the person only wanting something like the Lens and just rolling on that item, but waiting to roll on the screws in case they lose the lens. But then you got someone who wants the screws, but waiting to see if they have to roll on the Lens and well you got the .gif from a couple of posts up.

The reason this is so common in Alex is because of how the loot lockout works. Many people will pass on everything except the one item they want. By letting the other items roll first they can potentially eliminate three other people from competing on the roll for their favoured item by locking them out from it. The trouble is if more than one person does this on different items the party ends up in a stalemate.

I'm not really sure what can be done to solve this. It's simply a case of everyone waiting for someone else to roll first.

On a slightly unrelated topic, a fairly frequent occurrences in 24 man raids are afkers or griefers who are difficult to kick because of unrolled gear. If, for example, gear drops and someone goes afk we can't kick them until the loot is distributed and that won't happen any time soon because the afker hasn't rolled on loot. By the time the gear timer runs out, which is several minutes, the raid has already begun on the next boss and we also can't kick anyone in the middle of combat. Once we're out of combat, there is new gear and the cycle continues.

It's possible to have the raid wait before engaging the boss or fit in a kick in the seconds after a boss is defeated and before the chest has been opened, but it's frustrating. I feel things would be solved by making the timer on loot rolls about half as long as it is now.

I never do it on Alexander, but I tend to never loot after the Void Ark's second boss, so people can't leave after getting their lot and if we're fast enough we start the next boss with the loot pool at 30 secs aprox, then when we engage I loot, but they can't leave because we're in combat.

    I hate early leavers >_>
