But but... if there aren't as many people you won't lag in town as much!

---wasn't directed at you, but the posters above who started to talk about sub fees. Don't want the thread to go there. ---
I know the servers are being changed in a year, but what about the time inbetween. We have 18 servers up right now. Myabe world populations will be fine. If they are low and that creates a environment in which it becoem increasingly difficult to play
drought in raw materials = increase in prices which drive up crafting prices
Fewer crafters doing their thing which creates a huge demand of thier skills which drive up prices.
More difficult time getting people together for Soulbind grinds, or EXP PTs.
ect ect.
It's going to take some time to see the results, immediately we'll see a flux in player base, and then an increase over time. I want to know if they have a plan.
If transferign server data all together is impossible with the way SE set it up, then thats that.
But if they mean settign up voluntary transfers (transfer service) is too difficult but they can do a forced merge that might be for the better.
With the given and sir names I don't think too many people will have to pick a new name, Unless you're one of the "Clouds"
since the engine cant handle more then 40 npcs/pcs/whatever is added that throws shadows i guess, it might be nice to finally see who stands next to you, so fewer ppl in the cities and on the server/fewer retainers etc. will at least look betterOnce sub fee are reinstated we know there is going to be a dip in population on a per world basis.
I want to know if there are any plans in place to merge some servers to keep the population in balance. I don't think we'll be playing in ghost towns (since people will conglomerate in Uldah even more so) but the more people around the merrier.
I know server merge is taboo in MMOs but I'm thinking of our "quality of game life" over the next year. More people per server (via merge) will create a more robust economy. Material will be plentiful. Crafters will have more competition driving market prices to more reasonable levels. More people to exp and raid with is never a bad thing.
On SE's side it's less over head costs by maintaining all those servers.
When Ver 2.0 launches there is window of opportunity to open more servers.
Thoughts?... Until that isnt changed (so basicly 2.0 somewhere) less ppl might give you less pop-in pop out feeling of npcs/pcs and so add to the immersion /sarcasm
- still weird how someone could ever even think about using this kinda engine in the first place ...
