Black screen...

Hi all.

I've been having this problem for a few months now and it's getting worse...

Out of nowhere my screen turns completely black, sometimes it resumes after a few seconds and I get a 'graphic card error which has been restored' message. Other times it just crashes my pc while the sound continues. When that happens I have to force reboot my pc.
It's happening a lot now making the game unplayable. Does anyone know the cause?

My drivers are up to date.
I just a Gforce nvidea 570 card.

For what it's worth I've been getting this issue for a while too. GTX 970, current drivers. It will very rarely happen in other games, but happens multiple times a day in FFXIV. I used to have major issues when the DX11 client came out which I discovered was due to the water tessellation and after turning it off things got more stable, but I've had my displays crash six times in two days since returning for patch 3.2. Each time I still get sound out of my headphones, can still talk to friends and such, but have to reboot to get my displays working again. Still not sure what's causing it, but I'm reverting back to DirectX 9.0 to see if it's a problem with 11 or if it's something else entirely.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there regarding this stuff so you may have to experiment or dig really deep to find anything.

Edit: Also, it seems to happen primarily when I'm in Limsa Lominsa. Do you have a specific location you can think of where your crashing keeps happening?

Yeah, I've heard more people are dealing with this. That's why I'm surprised there's no sollution yet. For the past few days it's been occuring a minute or so after I'm in the game....It's frustrating... It happens everywhere in the game, nomatter what area
I switched back to DirectX 9 too, but it's not helping

If your pc is giving you a 'graphic card error which has been restored' message it usually is a indictor your graphics card in on the fritz but not necessarily a irl friend of mine has had same issue with pc and ffxiv and it turned out to be a falty RAM stick. Check to make sure your ram is seated correctly as well and make sure its not a faulty ram stick as well as check see if you need to replace your graphics card.

I just started the trial a few days ago and started having this problem today. Black screen with sound still working(I can even hear my character moving around as I press keys.) Requires a hard reboot to get the displays working again.
