    Damage from Confused party members

I'm trying to figure out how damage from party members who attack each other when under Confusion works. In an Antitower run I did in DF, the Bard was hit with Confusion and one of her auto attacks did 7,000+ damage as a critical to me. I'm a healer in nearly 210 gear and wondering how the heck I could take so much damage like that form a simple auto attack. Is this what happens in PvP as well? I don't PvP but I think I might've read that the damage output there might be almost as high at times and wonder if that is the case here for Confusion in PvE.

yeah ,confused state adds a buff to dmg output with a limit for sure (so u cant oneshot others but still hurts) ...is funny because when im confused as BRD with WP i get "autoattack" back....

afaik there is no confusion in PVP at all.

I know PVP has no Confusion status, I was wondering if the damage output in PVP and Confusion were on the same level.

Nah, PVP is capped at i150 and it shows, the only people getting super fast kills (5-10 seconds) there are summoners.

Huh, interesting. I guess one is more dangerous in a PvE environment when you turn against your party :P

it may not have been the auto-attack but an aoe from a copy of that character...
I once got confused there and was hitting my companion for exactly the whooping quantity of 136 per hit...
Well... I was a BLM wacking a PLD after all...

On another note, I once got confused in T8 as a NIN and was wacking someone for an scary amount... or so my healer companions say O_o

Yeah I've never seen anything like this. When under the confused status I hit for about 150 or so per book-whack. Seeing damage as high as 7,000 sounds like a bug if that really did come from a confused player.

Are you sure it wasn't something else though?

Under the Confusion status, the player is forced to use auto attacks on another player. When struck, the attack name is simply "Attack". They don't use AOEs or anything else.

I don't think it is. Bards are DPS so they're expected to be quite damaging. I just got unlucky I suppose.

The character auto-attacks are always the base physical attack, so the casters will do almost no damage while the non-casters will be hitting like normal.
The caster weapons list the magic attack value in the tooltip but there is a hidden physical attack value that is much lower.

Lesson: if someone is going to get confused, have it be a caster.

Well that goes without saying. *Is still fuming over his FF7 level grind run crumbling when Cloud with Slash-All hits everyone from Confusion*

A shame this status is rarely used.
