Steps:

1. Found a mineral deposit (Grade 2) at detailed Area and Coordinates.
2. [item=8090306]Raptorskin Survival Belt[/item] equipped on waist slot.
3. Started gathering actions and dug up 3 pinches of minium.
4. Gained no experience points but got the message Your spiritbond with the raptorskin survival belt is complete!. Screenshot provided.
5. Kept mining and got a new message for [item=8080432]Raptorskin Workboots (Brown)[/item] +1: Your spiritbond with the pair of raptorskin workboots (brown) +1 is complete!

If I remember correctly, you gain spiritbond as long as you gain experience points through battle, gathering or crafting actions. Maybe I'm wrong, so please, feel free to close the thread if this is working as intended.
