How could they remove it? As I'm sure you know both Scholar and Summoner are derived from arcanist Even if they removed that and convert SCH and SMN into jobs only like Dark Knight etc, what do they do with Arcanist 1-30? Does levelling to 30 merely unlock the two new jobs and doesn't go any further?

And if they split them that means people would have to level up both separately since no longer arcanist as the base class.

It's only 30 points, you can easily respec those points very cheaply now as often as you want or just spit 15/15 if you play both actively.

    Nothing so complicated is needed.

What could be done is that the stat allocation points would be automatically applied to the appropriate stat depending on which class/job you have equipped.

I.e. a Gladiator would get all their points applied to VIT, while a White Mage would get theirs on MND and so on.
Arcanist or Summoner would get their points on INT, while Scholar would get it on MND.

    Differences compared to today:
No need to choose which stat to boost - points would always be applied to the "best" stat, so no risk of doing it wrong.
Scholar and Summoner would no longer share a point allocation.

But if they're going to do that, what's the point in even given us a choice at all? True most people will put their stats in the same thing for each job, but at least right now we have a choice. What you're suggesting removes it completely and they might as well just add the stat points as we level up instead.

Maybe SE thought that because Arcanist gives you both a healer AND a DPS that it needs a slight drawback (no other class allows you to level up two different jobs at once) and that drawback being you have to share the bonus attribute points.

That is pretty much what I do suggest, yes. Removing the choice, since it is mostly a false choice - in most cases there is only one "right" place to put the points. The only outlier is Arcanist - and that's because it is the only class that is the base of two jobs with different main stats.
