It's worthless. There hasn't been a single moment where any gear i've worn has changed the stats there. It just makes navigating through menus slightly more annoying.

But there is Materia that give you resistance to the various elements, just because you don't use it doesn't mean it is not in the game.
I would agree with this. I very much prefer that the elemental properties be worked into the game properly. Though if theyre not going to use it. Lose it. I mean wouldnt it help with a lot of "data" that could be used towards bigger inventory? Hmmm
I'm not sure if these elemental attributes are working at all.
well Black Mage is the culprit that's holding back the game from having elemental system.
The resistances tab he's talking about doesn't deal with the elemental resistances (that's on the attributes tab with str, vit, attack power, etc.) but the resistance to debuffs like poison and physical resistances: slashing/piercing/blunt.
I feel like it's a tab designed more for pvp, but the materia for resisting those debuffs has been disabled in pvp areas for a long while now and I don't think they'll be considering adding physical resistances to gear or materia for pvp anytime soon either.
Isn't it just another 1.0 relic? Our attributes, resistances, the class/job system, mages having shields, cross class abilities, etc. Some would take more work than others to remove, but knowing how stubborn is in not admitting to mistakes, they're not going to remove any of them.
Was Ninja in 1.0? The tooltip for their ninjitsu mention elemental damage. If they wanted to get rid of it then they should have made them all neutral. Maybe they plan on adding it in the future. Perhaps the next job will be able to adjust the parties elemental defenses/offenses?
