That would be my complaint, as well, and the Nanamo fiasco is probably the worst offense. Her death was shocking and unexpected, and left the potential for some amazing storytelling during Ul'dah's subsequent political upheaval. Except, no - it was just a cheap cliffhanger to get folks psyched for Heavensward. As much as I've loved the Heavensward story, I was nothing short of insulted by the offhand way everything in Ul'dah was tidily returned to the status quo, complete with Nanamo being given a gentle chiding for her silly naive notions of political reform.

I'm not in favor of the story descending to GoT's hilariously overblown levels of life-is-cheap, where anyone with power over someone else would cheerfully slit their throat for a nickle, but when you do go ahead and plan a shocking twist of this sort, follow through, dammit! This may not be A Song of Ice and Fire, but neither is it X-Men.
