Further info mogstation had no issue taking payments 4days ago for cosmetic items, checked my bank no issues with the card or my funds, I'm seriously considering leaving the account unsubscribed when SE still uses outdated payment methods.
A common cause of the '601' error actually has nothing to do with your bank account and is actually the browser you're using to access the website - specifically it's blocking a security script from running in the background that checks your card details are legitimate and that you're not using hacks or something.
Commonly, this occurs with Firefox with the Noscript and Adblock addons installed, which are designed to stop scripts running on webpages, unfortunately they often can't tell between a legitimate one and malware and just block it regardless.
If you're using this browser with addblocking addons/software, disable them and try the page again (this error code in fact happened to me the very first time this system went live back in 1.0 when I tried to enter my Visa debit card details - but the above cause and solution was listed here on this forum and I tried it and it worked. After 'whitelisting' the SE Account Management System/Mogstation in Noscript and Adblock Plus, I've never had this error occur since.)
Yet, two days ago buying lightning's outfit and Fantasia vials wasn't an issue with mogstation taking my money. Only to renew subscription today and get the error when bank and funds are fine and no changes to my browser two days I think I'm done with FFXIV when they still can't get their billing site right legacy player as well.
Can I have your gil
I have had this problem recently an customer support informed me that it has to do with geo location an the card supplied. Ideally its nothing you can do either from getting a time card or notifying there accounting services through customer services to allow use of the specified card outside of its normal region. The process took me minutes using the online chat feature an I have done it twice due to deploying twice across the world. Posted via mobile device my regards for the grammer
I got into contact with live customer support, unfortunately nothing they can do and the matter has been escalated to be investigated so either way im waiting for a official reply. I'm beginning to wonder how SE have managed to keep subscriptions with billing issues from their payment site.
Most people probably don't have a problem with the billing site. It runs flawlessly for me, has since the day I started to play. Unfortunately, no system will every be 100% perfect. There will always be problems for someone. However, I doubt they are using an outdated payment method as you mentioned. If anything, it seems to be more strict than some of the other systems out there.
Its a problem with their buggy billing service DragonFlyy and legacy accounts! Three days now no reply from Customer Service or an email was only told by live agent that id receive an email once they investigate it, but whats more stupid about this is the fact tonight I was able to create a fresh brand new account and pay for a months time with the SAME CC that I use for my legacy account yet when I went to renew my sucsription with the legacy account three days ago I was plagued with the error 601 message. This is the only MMO I've played where the billing service has such ridiculous issues.
While something has definitely gone Pete Tong here with the payment system, I wouldn't say the system is outdated, nor is the service necessarily buggy. Seems like you're just having a bit of a hard time and you've been extremely unlucky. However, all you can do is wait for a response. And I'll bet while you haven't had issues like this on other MMOs, other players of those games will. It's just the way it is, sometimes the system goes wonky for some people.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
