It's not that anyone sees anything wrong with it, it's that your argument has been "I don't like how some people are using it, so just remove it," which is a stance that perfectly fits your forum name.

I will agree that any text entered into the /em command should be subject to the profanity filter when need be, but as I stated before, you don't remove a feature that 90% of the population uses harmlessly just because of the 10% that doesn't. Sometimes systems just need to be tweaked, not removed altogether when they don't work.

You could get strong, sexual graphic nature just from browsing these forums if you looked hard enough. It's the internet. Do your kids not have access to a computer? Should your computer just automatically filter out profanity because you're too lazy to supervise your kids? No.

It's up to parents to supervise their kids. You might as well shelter them from the entire world if you don't want them exposed to that kind of stuff. TV, YouTube, Netflix, is full of sexual content.

And to be honest, FFXIV's degree of "sexual online players" is far less than the amount of normal players. I play on Siren and haven't seen any "ERP" anywhere (Whereas a server like Balmung may have more of it)

Also, being a subscription based MMO, any "underaged" players can't possibly pay for this game themselves, which means their parents are paying their sub. Which means, if deemed inappropriate, the parent stops paying and becomes a responsible parent. Simple as that.

Don't punish players who use the tools of the game correctly for FUN purposes because you just happened to witness a few bad apples.

Now that is something I can agree with I do see a strong filter is needed allowing the use of the command system but it being filtered I agree with that 100% and I think that would be more than adequate to accommodate the younger players of the game because no matter what we always have to take the best interest for them at heart a filter I can firmly agree with that is something that is needed instead of removing it

Sexual themes are classified under it's rating, and the guardian who is over said child should have the responsibility of judging weather or not an MMO environment is fit for them. Filter or not, this shouldn't be removed because warnings were not heeded.

If you're letting your young kid play it then that's on you; like that guy playing the game with his daughter, he's clearly watching what she does in-game.

If someone is sexually harassing someone else, you can report it. The GMs do take that very seriously and it will be looked into right away, despite what some people say.
It's the same concept of...for example, kids swearing at others over voice chat in COD or something. Is it appropriate? No, but it falls under "Online Interactions". They aren't going to remove the voice chat feature in COD just because some people say inappropriate things. Same with this here; if it's not said in /em that won't stop that particular person from saying whatever offensive thing they're gonna say. They'll just move it to /s or /y or, gods forbid /sh and then everyone has to hear it. Technically if they find you're under 13 they can suspend your account anyway.

I mean, personally, I play with the censor off. I don't care. But it is a personal thing.

So. Yeah, this falls under "deal with it". Like I said before, just report people. That function is there.

    Edit:
Here's the ESRB rating page again since I guess you didn't look at it before.
It tells you what's in the game. "Language" and "sexual themes" are already there, in game. If you don't notice them then you aren't paying attention, and that's what the developers can control. For everything else, like every single online MMO or FPS or anything, is "Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB". Minecraft has it. WOW has it. EVE has it.

They already are separated. Just click on the little cogwheel next to the chat tabs to go to log settings, and check off custom emotes.

    This completely fixes OP's problem.

Apologies; I was at work when I posted that, so I assumed it wasn't the case already. I meant to check when I got home and follow up, but I forgot. Thanks for clarifying that!
