I don't think you're wrong or bad. I think that being willing to help without a desire to create the drama is all we can really ask for. Sure there's the whole "principle of the thing" purist approach, and doing it because you really only want to help people is great (and those people are out there and good for them too), but we can't expect every mentor to be like that.
