Yes the cap between your dmg compared to prepatch is getting smaller, but the cap to other party members wont just magically vanish unless youre the only person to ever get loot.To those who are raiding now as tanks, getting full set i220s = minimum 940 AP. Previously at full str build, 1k++ AP. The difference is getting smaller and smaller.
When I was doing A6S yesterday, I could still do DPS stance opening pull (given if you have a NIN). Maintaining aggro is harder for sure, but it's still doable and will be easier once tanks get more gears for more AP.
Note: Pulled 1.2k DPS until the 1st boss of A6S jumps to middle with 4 mirages. Totally possible.

The comparison between the members definitely won't change that much. But it's still a fact that people that have good amount of tanking knowledge CAN pull in DPS stance while tanking. It's just how familiar you are and how much you want to push for DPS to clear content earlier.
Pulling in dps stance now means either you have a nin in the party, or youre not using the optimal dps opener you could prepatch or dps are slacking. The comparison between the members definitely won't change that much. Indeed.
Im slowly closing the gap myself as well, I felt from 1045 to 844 and managed to reach 902 within one week.
Step by step guys and this should be just bad memories soon.
I would say that, over all, I don't have issue maintaining hate in the bulk of the fight.
However, in raid situlations with decent DPS in the party, opening with the old standby unchained/zerk weaved into a storms eye combo can occasionally get a bit hairy before that first skull sunder of the second combo. I've had to change to doing a BB->SE->BB at the start when there's no ninja.
Also DPS with itchy trigger fingers that get a bit ahead of you GCD on the the pull...
Once it's settled it's as smooth sailing as it's ever been.
This line of thought makes no actual sense because attack power has to be compared to everyone else's attack power. Yes, with new gear, tanks will get back to their pre-patch attack power. But, as was mentioned on the previous page, tanks aren't the only ones gaining attack power with new gear. All of the DPS are increasing their attack power too. Tank damage is still nerfed relative to the other classes.
I m not talking about the gap between me and actual dps. This one will never be closed since everybody is gearing up.
Im talking about the gap between my previous AP (1045) and the post patch one. This gap has been reduced from 1045/844 to 1045/908. What matters to me is to get my previous dps back 1st for reasons.
So yes sorry but it does make sense.
Only in a purely personal numerical sense. Comparative performance is what matters, and your original post says;I m not talking about the gap between me and actual dps. This one will never be closed since everybody is gearing up.

Perhaps I'm reading too much into that, but it sure seems that you're implying that once you are geared up it will be just like 3.1. Except it won't because DPS have moved on too. So sure, if you just want a 4 digit AP you'll get there, but relatively speaking it doesn't matter a jot.Im slowly closing the gap myself as well, I felt from 1045 to 844 and managed to reach 902 within one week.

Obvious troll?
Ok lets rephrase.
Before the patch i had 1045 AP.
Ill be happy when ill get that number again just because i dont want to see stats being reduced no matter if the rest is completely different (more hp, different mobs, people having different gear etc).
Other jobs will have 1200 or more i dont care at all. I will also have more hp myself.
Is there anything to explain again? Im not "implying" anything or i dont know oh my god...

I should have said:
- "i m closing the gap in terms of AP between 3.15 and 3.2 for my personnal point of view but of course this time i will be 40% lower than DPS jobs instead of 20%"..
For people willing to analyze. Here we go.
Not that i care though.
