    Summon and minion speeds?

Is there a way to make my carbuncles and minions run closer to me? When I run they aren't even on my screen they're so far back. Did I mess something up without realizing it and somehow set them to follow so far behind or is this normal?

    It's actually pretty normal.

You can't really change the follow distance of the pet/minion unless you use the place command to send the pet to a specific location as you move. Even then, that only works for pets.

If you have a minion, you could try toggling off your RUN animation and walking. It does shorten the distance between you and your minion, but there's no way to set the distance to like 5 yalms or something.

I see...thank you for the info. It seems very strange, though, that the normal speed is so very far behind the player. I wonder why it's set that way. =/

It's probably due to latency. No matter what, there's going to be a small amount of latency which results in the "you" the server sees being a little bit behind the "you" on your screen (The only way around this would be to have them display your movement server-side rather than client-side, which would show your "true" position at the cost of making all your commands have lag between when you enter them and when they go off, screwing with your reaction time).

Anyway, summons and minions have their position given to you by the server, same as monsters, NPCs, and other players. So, they trail after the server side "you" because that's the only version they see (and also what all the other players see FYI), and the lag adds additional distance.

They're there when you need them! They're just doing their best. Those little Carby legs are short, okay?
