    My thoughts

I've been reading a lot of posts on here. Stop being such lemmings. There is no problem in complaining about the fact that they do not have North American servers. This might explain why this game is a laggy mess a lot of the time. This business model is a mess.

Do not say SE shutting down their servers is such a wonderful thing to do...please...they are required to do it by the government. For those saying if you don't like it go play something else...obviously you've never ran a company. That is the last thing SE would say. For example...Blizzard does NOT run World of Warcraft out of America alone. They have servers all around the world. It improves connection speed and reliability. While my heart goes out to the people in Japan, my dislike for the way this game is being run has NOTHING to do with this tragedy.

I personally will take this week to remind myself how other games are run. Perhahps I'll get to experience a few of the newer games out there and realize that, in fact, FFXIV really is as bad as everyone says.

Just stop being such pansies and attacking those who question things. We DO NOT have to just go along. We're customers and have a right to complain about this. If you want to support their decision then good...go off and start knitting. World of Warcraft is an American game...but it is run out of several countries and it is now obvious why it is the number 1 MMO and probably will be for quite a long time - Smart business decisions.

It's not an issue of complaining about it. Surely they could have servers running from their NA and EU offices. Nobody's disagreeing with the actual issues.

This is just hardly an appropriate time to be bitching about that sort of thing.

They are complaining because they are a WOW player. That's what they are good at.

Agreed with Malakhim. In the face of such a tragedy, it's surprising what people will complain about. If your only interest is playing a video game right now and complaining about not being able to do it, then there is something wrong with you.

There are opinions and issues, but right now we're looking at a fraggin' natural disaster. Please relent for a second and think about that, John.

Malakhim said it best, it's not the time. And as someone who does in fact sit on the board of a small company, I've learned that there are different approaches to net presence and persistence.

Hence, please give it a rest, at least until the situation dictates otherwise.

EDIT: I doubt a serious business such as Blizzard would condone such not-so-subtle advertising done in their name, as well. And well said, Paksenarrion.

Thanks. And couldn't agree more with what you and Malakhim said.

I would love to see ppl, who really do complain about not being able to play at this time (like alienbaby etc.) getting banned from forums and the Game itself...

Seeing as you're talking about "how to run a company" I assume you know how much work has to be put into expanding servers into another country. And seeing as no FFXIV player has been paying (other than for the actual game) since September, it's not exactly a good idea to expand when they don't have a monthly income from players yet.

And if FFXIV is really as bad as everyone says why are you here? Oh wait, I know. You're a WOW fanboy that has just come here to rant. The fact that this is your first post kinda makes that obvious.

We all know the drill, WOW is American game....better.....bigger....jumping....bla bla bla. And I don't consider doing whatever players want as a smart business decision. It's a business completely run by the players because the actual company is scared of losing it's players.

Your entitled to your opinion, but please, do us all a favor and post them in a WOW forum instead.

Make suggestions once the crisis is over and the country has time to heal
Remember due to 9/11 they had to take out a scene from spider man. It may have been a crucial scene. But not enough to risk alienation of a country. Time and place for everything. Just be lucky there is infact a game to return to after all of this is said and done. the SE headquarters could have been destroyed along with the death of great men and women in the gaming industry. Save your beef or company politics till after everything has settled. Please and thank you.

the main reason the servers had to go down was not because of the power required to run the servers but because of the power being used by the thousands of players in Japan who log in. One of the strong points of FFXIV and FFXI is that the game is international so even if the servers were located outside japan, as long as japanese people could log in, then power would be wasted.

The last few threads on ffxiv sites have been just sad and disgusting to look at, as a result of this disaster hundreds of people are dead and hundreds more are missing. Some people really don't understand the gravity of the situation, people are dead... innocent children are dead... and in comparison people are bitching about not being able to play a game for a week. If your life is so meaningless that a week of no FFXIV is gonna kill you of boredom then i think the root of your issues lie elsewhere and not with the servers going down; Maybe you should take this week to go out and make some friends.
