I DO have a problem with win-trading (obviously), but your point Hanmer is valid: this system needs to be fixed ASAP, or win-trading will always be all but expected. It's ridiculous when you take into account the dev time that was spent on this content for it to be such a joke upon release, then have the devs seemingly ignore the huge problem of said content pretty much being unapproachable. Once I get into a match with someone (which hasn't happened in a while), I thoroughly enjoy the mechanics of the mini-game itself, I think it's a great little MOBA, I want to get into it so very badly (hence why I'm so adamant about all this), but right now no one can, not honestly.

All that being said...SE has stated that they are looking into bringing CR and LoVM to duty finder status, it sounds like they're working on it for next patch. If they come through, the popularity of both may increase substantially. So, as much as I've been whining, I'm excited. I'm just having trouble keeping my patience until then.

I wouldn't count on it. CR has way too many track grades and 3 variations of each, so you'll likely not get paired anyway unless it's top tier where you'll have a hard time winning anything against rank 50 chocos with 20 stars and full 3 star food plan. And LoVM is simply not fun so people don't like it and don't play it, they've never asked for this content, and DF will not fix it.

Chocobo racing was quite popular when it first came out. Eventually, interest in it waned, and it's rare to see many players there now, but the racing area was quite a busy place for a while. Lords of Verminion, on the other hand, was pretty much dead on arrival. People stopped by the first day or two to see what it was, and hardly anyone's been back to it since. The mini-games there, Out on a Limb and the Finer Miner, seem to be bigger hits than the Gold Saucer's showcase game from 3.1.

Personally, I have had a ton of fun with LoVM when people were playing (which as has been said didn't last long at all, sadly), so I don't know why anyone would say otherwise (unless they simply didn't have the skill required to play the kind of game it is). Trust me, there's plenty of people I've met and heard who want to get into LoVM, so if anyone personally doesn't enjoy the game, thinking everyone is the same way is quite sophomoric and depressingly fanciful. Besides, popularity does not mean everyone and their dog is going to play, but there will be many who will play once the game finally opens up.

There's really no excuse for win-trading. Its cheating, it cuts out everybody that actually wants to play. There ARE people who will play if you start a Linkshell or pf for it. I hope Square fixes this, of course, and I wouldn't mind it if they barred traders from participating.

    It really doesn't.
Stand around in queue and you'll get a win trader before they can get their partner.
Win traders, while not always, are usually the type that aren't quite practiced at the game proper. So your victories come easy.

Sorry Canadane, but I have to disagree with you - win-trading does cut out everyone who actually wants to play, because it creates an unnecessary barrier (dealing with people who don't want to honestly play [they tend to be hostile {yes, I've experienced it}]) that has caused most, if not all people to stop even trying to play, thus reducing the player base, thus making it nigh impossible to play the game at all unless you bring along a friend, which is essentially impossible due to the disenfranchisement of most people towards the mini-game.

By the way, most win-traders who "queued" up while I was waiting (forever...) and realized I was their opponent rather than their intended partner just quit the game. Sure, it gave me points (though not many due to the fact they intentionally have the "loser", who typically has lower rank points, join queue first to "punish" anyone waiting for messing with their exploit), but I would also like to enjoy actually playing the game, not get roped into involuntarily win-trading myself, which is essentially what happens when they quit. They don't care about the penalty, they'll just come back once I've given up on playing, which most people have done at this point permanently...

So, yeah, it does cut out everyone who wants to enjoy the mini-game, being that everyone has given up on it ever being something we can enjoy without picking and scratching for matches. Win-trading has essentially killed LoVM.
