Does combat get faster at higher lvl?

Even at 50, this doesn't improve much. You have more potential abilites to hit, but you're still waiting on cooldown timers - it's retarded.

This is very uncommon if you play correctly. Besides, is it really so enjoyable to continuously mash those buttons if there is no thought to it? Auto-attack is good because 1) it alleviates animation lock issues, and 2) you want to continuously attack regardless of the situation, so it makes sense to automate it and let the player worry about responding to what's happening during the battle.
