Is it really this bad on American servers? Here on the EU servers 99% of the people I meet are friendly towards newcomers and don't mind when people enter content blind on DF. I do everything blind myself and the only time I got a "really?" was when I queued up blind... for T13. Most of the problems I hear about regarding the mentor system seem to be way smaller here too. OP, if you want to play the game this way, you can always consider changing servers to avoid terrible people like this Dorander guy.

It depends on specific servers really. The problem is only more apparent in DF where you got several severs forced to play together since they're in the same data center, so the unpleasantness is made more apparent. Kind of like taking every single class in school in a class trip with all the troublemakers tagging along.

I take the initiative to educate myself before stepping into something blind, instead of expecting someone else to explain the strategies before a fight.

It's a bit ironic that we get people who use the lazy card on those who didn't watch videos, yet the same people are probably being lazy themselves waiting for someone else to make a pro strat video before even attempting to run something.

I was going to reply with the same, but you and others have already said it, and probably said it better than I would have.


I still today get new people in AV. I tank through there. A LOT. Coincounter? "You ever did Fates Have It FATE?" "Yes." "Same thing, no ground markers, sidestep when he looks at you, I'll stun ranged attack." OR... The answer "No." "Run away when he does 100 tonz swing, no ground markers, sidestep when he looks at you, I'll stun ranged attack." First boss. "Grab a fruit on 2 stacks of debuff." Last boss. "Fruits on 3 stacks, kill pods asap."

It really doesn't take a lot even if you DO need to explain something to someone on most fights. Of course you can write your longer explanation too with specific attack names, emotes, etc. I certainly don't expect everyone to know AV or already watched a video of even this old of content. I sure as HECK don't expect anyone, or myself, to know something week of patch, but we go through every single time a new dungeon / raid / trial has been released. Unfortunately.

Despite what some posts on this forum and others may lead you to believe, this type of behavior is far from the norm. Personally, I've found that for every one !@#% you encounter, there will be at least 10 helpful people. We just tend to remember the bad experiences more vividly than the positive ones.
