In future updates, can we please have tiered mentor system?

Currently you only need to meet several requirements to have a crown next to your name.

It would be nice to have tiered mentor system where depending on what you've completed, you will have a specific TYPE of crown (even different color).

For gatherer/crafting mentor achievements you'd have a different looking crown than you would if you were to meet the commendations/tank+healer+dps-to-60 requirement.

You could also have an altogether different crown icon for going further than the base requirement, perhaps an even better looking crown for getting all DOW/DOM jobs to 60 plus having 2,000 commendations. And another even better looking crown if you had met all the previous requirements PLUS completed all zodiac relics, and so forth.

I like the idea, but I can definitely see this going in the direction of "hey everyone look at me" and forgetting the crown is actually there to inform new players of who is a Mentor. It would become more like a trophy instead of a "mentor authority".

I'd rather have more achievement rewards or special icons next to our names with Title's. Something to show off, but not interfere with what the intended reason is.

Mentoring is not about the crown. mentoring is not about the rewards. Mentoring is about helping people. Period. the rewards are what is destroying any hope the system had of being useful.

Should have simply been a title, not a crown. And the only chance for rewards should come from a monthly voting system where sprouts and recent sprouts can vote on who they think was the most helpful mentor they have had. Give a reason to develop a meaningful dialog with sprouts, get on friends lists, and continue to help them adjust to a new game. and if you win the vote, give out something like a store minion or outfit.

I like this idea, perhaps something can still be tiered to where you'd actually NEED enough votes from Sprouts to actually gain a specific Mentor Icon. I realize mentoring isn't about the rewards nor the crown, but given the right system or adjustment it could still be beneficial to both new players and old.

Do people really get that excitable over a crown? I just saw it as a way of marking mentors so they'd be instantly recognizable, not some badge of prestige. If anything I'd say that more often than not, there simply aren't many newbies being invited to the novice network. On Ragnarok, at least, mentors outnumber novices 5 to one most days.

No. I'd like for them to remove the crown entirely - it's not needed at all. Whatever icon they choose will be sought after by players. So just NO.(and yes I have seen people get mentor status JUST for the crown...)

Give an option of being active or not to mentors - that would join them or not to the network - that way you don't get the annoying error message when 90% of the people in the network are actually just idling or even have it turned off.

If there is a mark that's needed ten maybe make it so that the crown is only visible to the sproutlings - or just colour those people a bit differently for them. I know it's nice to have graphical representations of it all but when players only do it for the icon and not for helping... Yeah sorry just no.

Ugh I see so many people with crowns who are a) toxic b) play bad.

The crown means nothing, and I hope that these don't influence the others too badly. All I will say.

There should be tiered mentor system, but it should be done my Novice commendations. It doesn't matter how much content you've done if you're not helping the Novices, which is exactly what I've been seeing from the mentors in my brother's Novice Network, so you should get Novice commendations to show that the Novices thought you were helpful and depending on how many you get depends on what kind of crown you get that way people know who the best people to help them are, because they will have been voted for by the people they actually believed was good mentor.

Needs something. Friend and I went into a fight we'd not done yet. Said we were first timers. So did another random. Asked for any basic tips. 4 mentors in the group and not one offered any advice just charged in and raged when the group wiped then wiped again. 3 ppl rage quit got 1 rep also a mentor. This one Gave out some basic tips and then we cleared the fight with 6 people. 10 minutes later.

5 mentors and only one of them offered any help. Need some kind of tiring / verification system where if mentors aren't helpful they lose the status or maybe get demoted to a bronze crown where super helpful mentors like the rep we got would surely get a gold crown.

Also something like this is needed. When i'm busy running stuff with friends, ls, fc, or even pf groups I typically don't have time to participate in the novice network, so it would be nice if I could "sign off" the novice network until i'm done or until my next logon or something and free up a slot for another mentor who has more time to help sprouts that day..

This is exactly what I am talking about. I think the system needs tweaking. People wear the crown because they think it's so fancy.
Better if they made a system with people who want to volunteer and help others out. *Joins network, sees a guy offering help with healing tips, contacts him, runs dungeons with him, learns'.
Being a good player who can help and teach cannot be measured by level of their characters/commendations (no matter how ridiculous this sounds).
