New Player Chat channel - came and gone?

At one point I was in a new player channel on my character. It seemed some quest or other activity triggered it to be there. Then as of yesterday it went away. I suspect some action quest or task wise also caused that?
Either way it was very useful to me as a new player as the helpers in that channel (had a crown next to their name/posts) were knowledgeable and helpful.
Ideas on how to get that chat/discussion channel back?

Hello! Once you've played the game more than 40 hours, your new player sprout is gone and you don't qualify as a new adventurer, sadly, even if you're still in need of mentorship. If you see any players wearing crowns, I would ask them for a friend request or linkshell and you'll get a brand new network of helpful people.

Have you now played long enough to lose the sprout icon above your character's head, representing New Adventurer status? (I think it's your first 40 hours of playing time.) That could be one reason, as that channel only accepts New Adventurers and Mentors.

(I've also heard that on some servers the channel gets filled with too many players and doesn't have room for everyone to be in it, but I think at that point it prioritizes new players to get in. In any case, last I heard Jenova wasn't that highly populated, so I'm not sure it would even have that problem.)

It's also possible to get kicked out of the novice network, but that's unlikely if you were using it properly to get help and advice from the mentors who were there to provide it.

Thanks for the notes. I may be getting close to or at the 40 hours.
I've been going slow on some things instead of rushing to just level to experience a bit more of the game, even a early touch of some crafting.
It is probably time to look for a Free Company, if I'm getting that name right.

    You got the name right.

But yes, look out for crown marked people. They should be willing to help you with whatever you need in the future.

You can also ask questions in the /shout channel wherever plenty of people congregate (any of the three starting cities should work - Limsa Lominsa's lower decks seems a popular place for it, at least on Coeurl), and you'll usually find players eager to help out with answers and advice. If you're more comfortable asking a specific player, anyone you see with that crown icon over their heads is a good bet.

I believe you can also search for players that have their online status set to Mentor and send them a /tell.

The novice channel goes away when you lose novice status (the little green sprout symbol next to your name). This happens when you have been logged on for a cumulative time of 40 hours or when you manually turn it off. There's no way to get it back.
