    Worried about the storyline

I know 2.0 is going to be a whole new storyline, or at least played off the previous one before 2.0. However after going through everything now, the main storyline, grand companies, ect...it seems like the storyline is going to be rushed and alot of gaps are going to be made.
For example, we see Ifrit in the main storyline, yet we end up fighting him through grand company quests. It seems like we should have fought him through storyline quests.
Ontop of that, theres still no real dealings with the 12, or point in them.

I was a huge fan of CoP and other XI storylines, however I was only somewhat impressed with XIV's, and through every update it seems to get worse.

Dont get me wrong, I love the content every month and am happy for it, but it seems to be killing off the "story" with every update as well. Anyone else feel this?

I honestly like how they've intertwined the main scenario and Grand Company quests.

It's like at the end of XI, when you complete both RoZ and CoP, you have the whole Apocalypse Nigh quests that tie them together.

And to be honest, the main story line deals more heavily on the Empire than it does on Ifrit.

    Hypocritic.

CoP story starts right after the end of RotZ. Yet you can begin the CoP story at level 30 before shadow lord even makes an appearence but the final RotZ mission is an uncapped fight.

Timeline wise it makes zero sense unless you have cleared rotz before starting cop.

Basically, if you realise that the Grand Company quests -are also- basically storyline quests, everything is fine.

Like, there was the Path of the Twelve story arc, and there's also the GCs story arc, and they didn't want to assume that you had completed PotT because that'd mean you'd have to be L46 to do the GC story content, which would cut a lot of players out. They're seperate, correlated plotlines, GCs will be carrying things forward from here to 2.0, at which point there'll be a new story arc continuing the plot.

Yoshida's very clearly concerned with giving us a memorable story that feels FF-ish, he's said that many times and one of the reasons he wants to keep the game running between now and 2.0 is because he wants to give people extremely memorable, once-in-a-lifetime story content as the Astral Age comes to a close. That's dedication, and he's still got SE's talented team of writers; I wouldn't worry about the storyline getting thrown under a bus. (Shifted, yes, changed, yes, probably the pacing is quite different, but it'll still be the story we wanted to experience.)

They're not getting rid of the original main story. It's the Dalamud/Meteor/Urianger ongoing story that's not going to be in the game anymore, because it's going to tie into the map changes.

The main scenario quests are just getting reworked to play in the new areas. It's basically "on hold" until they can continue it after 2.0 hits.
