The new little ladies day event this year looks to have a token of some kind to exchange for items beyond those listed as the new event rewards so it may be that the cherry tree will be making a return. I'd rather just see it as a recurring item every year than have it made freely available on a merchant given that they were not easy to obtain in the first place.
I get the concept of rarity, however, why should they not be readily available if I'd previously participated in the event and purchased the item at least once (more than once since I did it for 12 trees). There is absolutely no reason that if players participated in the previous event and purchased one of said items that they shouldn't be made available for us to acquire again, be it via Salvager or seasonal merchant.
