This is a stupid thread.
Summons are going to be scaled according to the circumstances. They won't be scripted like the fights themselves, even a prepubescent kid who builds his own PC would tell you that.
I honestly think this is awesome even though it's imbalanced. Sometimes imbalance is just funnier though, and much more dramatic.
I usually hate a lot the stuff Yoshi suggests, but I'm actually really looking forward to this. It agrees with the lore too.

I wonder who will we be able to summon now when the job comes out.
All we know is Carbuncle, I am going to guess Fenrir two, because like Carbuncle, Fenrir was a (celestial?) avatar.
The other avatars were (terrestrial?)
I hope they aren't just the elemental summons. Elementals look stupid in my opinion.


Summon can have very long cool down, or need certain item to summon, I don't mind that. Being able to summon anytimes is also good. I don't want people to keep limit our freedom.
However, those stuffs should not be "needed" to win any content.

I'd see it as something that you might use when you are the last man standing, hours into battling a tough boss with your Free Company and with the boss at 3 or 4% health after numerous attempts - then you pull off the kind of awesomeness that is normally purely tied to single player games, with a totally over the top ability that wins it for you and has you telling stories for years to come.
Pulling away from the "It is an MMO so it has to be completely bland" sits well with me. I really like the idea of everyone on the server knowing it is being summoned. I used to really like in Netherstorm in World of Warcraft, that you could tell folk were fighting Kael'Thas by the lightning etc striking from the floating fortress place.



but in any case, if the summoner die, the summon will disappear right ?


A lot of idea look good on paper let's see how it look once the game come out i hope there a limit how many time you can get it within a month or free company would spam it all day and always get it.

I personally love how this sounds. First you have to beat the primal to have the ability to summon it. Then your group has to fill their summoning bar. (no idea how long that takes) then after summoning you lose that summon. So all in all it sounds like a process and that you wouldnt want to waste your summon on just anything. And to get it back would mean to go and beat the primal again.
The summon should be powerful, I never liked how the boss was so hard, but then his summon wasnt anything close to as powerful as the boss version. I'm hoping this system works, as it all sounds very exciting
Furthermore I like that the rest of the server will know when you summon, as they said the weather and other conditions will change across all zones. Pretty epic![]()



he's basically making god tiered summons into 2 week skills, ffxi did great with 2 hr skills; I like having things on a timer. And more so if it will let the devs make real area changes when something's being summoned.
