Calling a request for more glamour options for male characters "thinly veiled activism" has got to be one of the funniest overreactions I've seen in these forums. Watch out buddies, there might even be communists inside your free company chests.

In other news, thread on anime MMO forum whips itself into a McCarthyist frenzy over people asking that their male videogame avatars can wear gloves that were for some reason modelled only for characters of a specific gender.

If you release four unisex items, you have a much larger pool of options to combine together, so there will be much less overlap.
I very much like that this point is different from the normal overplayed equality complaints, so I'd like to focus on this. From my experience, that's not really how it works. I dare say absolutely no one likes every single piece of gender locked gear. I also say that even if they liked half of it (which most certainly don't), they wouldn't even bother with more than a few, simply because of limitations with the glamour system irrelevant of gender.

Unique looks are uncommon in these games because of the fact there are popular trends and general laziness to bother. Given how few gender locked gear there are as a whole, as opposed to the overwhelmingly larger pool of unisex gear, unique styles are hardly affected. That is, unless someone is literally critiquing every single players looks... which to that, I say "wow... just wow."

They could have a billion options of looks to choose from, but just because of how the popular trends are going to be, only a very small handful of them will be used by the significant majority. The popular trends being the "cool robotic look" or some intimidating flashy look... maybe the very revealing styles mostly with females and some males. Let's also not forget the appeal of the "new" that folks clamor to, then as time goes on, the familiar retro. Trends and people in general are very easy to figure out as a whole.

I've come up with a solution: remove all specialty locked gear from the game. That way no one has it and no one can be mad. Problem solved. You're welcome.

The request was made SEVERAL threads ago and at this point is absolutely activism - Thinly veiled only because particular groups haven't stood up an voiced that they're being discriminated against because they're male rog can't wear female gloves or vice versa. They have a reason why they wanted the gloves genderlocked - you respect it and move on and not start fights up on a forum.

Oddly enough, a person wanting to wear a dress doesn't necessarily mean said person is a woman.

If it's this big of an issue I think they should remove all glamour items from the game.

I for sure wont miss them.

If they do that, then they'll complain about that too. Dang if you do, dang of you don't. It's why SE just don't care cause they don't have time for lil things. Just change gender and be done w/ it.

As creative as I've seen people. They can come up with an outfit similar to a dress. But regardless. As mentioned. This just isn't the game for that. It's not skewed towards that. And rather than people complaining about it. Go find a game more to your suiting (I use 'your' generally btw, not picking you out).

It's almost like if you go play Skyrim and say they release new gear (fictitious example btw) and one complains "they're not letting me dress in a bikini" the game is not about that. And quite frankly it's not 100% about you either. Food for thought.

I'd argue that this game isn't skewed toward apocalypse averting bad asses saving the world in a bikini (or speedo + chest strap) but it's a thing that exists regardless.

Actually, the game is most definitely about "you".
