at first i thought these threads were legitimate and made decent points. Mostly that a lot of the "male" sets were unisex
but lately these posts just come off as "LOOK AT ME I'M AN ACTIVIST FOR EQUALITY"

If everything was the same for everyone all the time the world would be a boring place.
Look at the bright side, if you want to be a dude wearing a belly dancer outfit you can do that in real life all you want and no one will stop you

Honestly, I just want male/female equivalents on gear releases. Either have one set with two corresponding model tweaks (like how certain gear sets will change depending on sex), or when a themed set gets released, something for male and something for female. Gender locks are fine, if everyone gets something, not the unisex/female BS.

In fact, i will start a thread with the same number +1 everytime a new genderlocked gear is put into the game.

Im a feminist and equality activist irl, so yeah, is pretty much a given genderlocks on gear and such pisses me off, specially when there is stuff that would be great for me to wear but they are genderlocked for absolutely not good reason by developing laziness.

And your example about real life is simply stupid, is like saying we should be thankfull there are not bahamuts in real life nuking our cities. Duh.

And herein lies the problem, this game isn't a platform for you and the rest of your ilk to use as a platform to foist your opinion down the throats of a development team that obviously isn't interested in unlocking the Male/Female attire, it is a game that is presented AS IS and should be left to the development team's discreation as to how and what should be implemented. If you don't like what they're offering - LEAVE - no one is forcing you to pay for a game that obviously isn't meeting your "standards" =\

So nobody should ever give any sort of advice, suggestions, or feedback about anything related to the game? If that were the case, these forums wouldn't exist.

Of course it's SE's game and they can do whatever they like with it. Nobody's suggested otherwise. But that doesn't mean that a feedback-less vacuum would be the best way for them to do so.

People can and HAVE - the problem is that threads like this metastasize into activism. It is obvious, SE has no intention of honoring your request or they would have either A: addressed the matter or B: initiated it - Make your suggestion RESPECTFULLY - then leave it alone till they cn find enough time to address it.

I beg to differ with the bold underlined part. Offering feedback is generally within the grounds of a one-and-done sort of thing. The reason I say that is because it is then left up to the people in charge to determine if that's something they want/have to follow. It's fine to keep leaving the same feedback, but that's where a large part of the problem is. People are taking the choices for creative freedom as some form of personal offense because the devs didn't take feedback that they made as a form of passive demand, i.e. "it must be done from here on or I'll get mad."

That's when a lot of the people on these threads tend to throw around the bigot card to anyone who says that it's not a big deal in hopes that the fear and social stigma behind it will rally people to their personal word and castrate anyone who doesn't think like they do. In fact, the basis for the whole thing is the feeling of oppression for not being able to get what others have just because they chose to be male/female/etc. I'm willing to bet this was never the devs intent, but people still ended up feeling that way. Here's the kicker though: these same people generally use the fear card to get people to change the ways that others look at it to get what they want. It's that same form of oppression, except 100% intentional because people are idiots about what they view is right as they force it down the throats of others. You promote fear and want for sacrifice of creative freedoms over something as petty as glamour? There's a bigger problem at play here and it's not coming from the devs. It has always been this way and it will never change because no one wants to accept the negatives behind their actions or they just don't understand the big picture.

Please keep in mind how this all started to gain headway. It wasn't because sex/gender locks prevented people from playing the game (dungeons, crafting, interactions, etc). It was because some folks wanted bunny ears for male characters. Repeat that to yourself a few times until it sinks in. We're throwing real life issues that deal with actually harmful forms of oppression, harm, and death into a game over bunny ears... real stand up community this is.

Sorry, it should probably have said "doesn't really compare all that well to RL situations". The game does, after all, exist in real life. And it wasn't the characters lives I was comparing to our RL ones, but the issue of some players having less options based on what gender they chose to play as. Outside of role-playing, it's not like it's our characters who really care about what they're allowed to wear, it's the players (well, some of them) who care about their gaming experience being different based on whether they're playing a male or a female.

At least I'm assuming you stopped reading because you disagreed with my making comparisons. Based on your short post and lack of clarification, it could just as easily have been that you stopped reading because you knew already at that point you'd agree with it all. Or that you disagreed with my statement that it doesn't compare well to RL situations.

Anyway, what I wanted to say in that post was basically that while it's pretty unimportant compared to RL situations, unfairness is possible to compare to at least certain aspects of RL situations.

They have addressed it. Vaguely. And they've started to follow it up slightly (by adding equal numbers of gender-locked outfits in patches). That doesn't mean it can't be pointed out when they fail to follow up on what they've said (adding more female-only than male-only), and keep requesting that they address the other half of the issue (repair the already existing genderlock imbalance by either making female-only sets unisex or by introducing more male-only, preferrably matching the existing female-ony/unisex combos).
