Fortunately you don't have to choose her, as she's obnoxious even by potato standards. MY issue with the "choose the leader" thing is what the point of it is? There doesn't seem to be anything extra that happens once the girls have reached MAX HYPE status, and no character interaction changes based on that decision.I think the real problem is they're asking you who the "leader" should be.
And uhh, The person who wears red and stands in the middle is already there. If sentai shows have taught me anything, it's that the leader wears red and stands in the middle.
Odds are kinda stacked in Ulala's favor.

Not to mention she is getting new outfits first, too!
Anyway, my vote went to Ulala because she's adorable and charming and really into it.
I totally fell for Hiromi too, but since she promised her dad to stop it with this singing business right after the event, she's not a good choice as a leader.
Also, too shy for the job :x
In general it bothered me that we had to choose a leader instead of "who's the most popular?", because leader qualities do not necessarily match up with a likeable character.
Nashu's sister was actually the best choice as a leader (by asian pop group standards xD), but she was so annoying and not-fun, I went with Ulala as my choice instead °-°

Too bad they didn't give music sheet of this new BGM.

For people looking for more info, the Enthusiastic fan near the repeatable questgiver replays all of the progression text.
Frankly, I don't think it matters WHO you vote for, the progression of character outfits and questions is determined by participation period. The only thing special you get is a personal thank you from your chosen girl, and then a more heartfelt and dynamic one if you give twenty. (I have enough characters that I got all 6 possible options and then some.)

I hope the quests get put into the Unending Journey if not now, then at the next patch

She seems to be the one that would suit the leader role best anyway. Narumi wants to bail on the group to go and become an actress and Masha is more interested in a solo dance career. Meanwhile, Ulala wants to see the group achieve true stardom and enjoys working with her two new best friends. It's also revealed that her overconfidence is just an act and that her favourite pastime is actually reading.
not that I am biased or anything, as a book loving lala. :P
It would have been nice if your vote actually made a difference though. Maybe in addition to the pink robe you got, you also got one the colour of your chosen leader or something. Or maybe a stuffed doll of your favourite one. Or you got to see who the servers most voted for is and have a server wide ending.

...the robes are dyable though. You can DYE it to match your leader...

From what I can tell the leader votes only changes which of the 6 "wins group leadership" cutscenes you get.
Quest participation + Time is what determines the costumes, stage decorations, crowd size, npc conversations, questions unlocked and group cutscenes shown.
The cutscenes in order and the changes they apparently bring:
1. 1st group cutscene, all 3 girls in starting costume and 1 question unlocked, bare stage, npcs uninterested in Songbirds, no crowd.
2. 2nd group cutscene, Ulala in 2nd costume and 2nd question for her unlocked, 2 person crowd.
3. 3rd group cutscene, Masha also in 2nd costume with 2nd question unlocked, slightly larger crowd
4. 4th group cutscene, Narumi in 2nd costume and 2nd question for her unlocked, decorations added to stage, npcs seminterested, slightly larger crowd.
5. 5th group cutscene, Ulala in 3rd costume and 3rd question for her unlocked, slightly larger crowd
6. 6th group cutscene, Masha in 3rd costume and 3rd question for her unlocked, slightly larger crowd
7. 7th group cutscene, Narumi in 3rd costume and 3rd question for her unlocked, stage decorations upgraded, npcs interested, slightly larger crowd.
8. Final group cutscene, 4th question for all girls unlocked, stage decorations upgraded, npcs fully interested, crowd at largest size.
