Steps:
1. Was on part of Main Story Quest where Alphinaud tells you to meet him in Camp Dragonhead
2. Used Aetheryte at Foundation to teleport to Gates of Judgement, (then was planning to run to Camp Dragonhead).
3. Got kicked out of game before loading into zone with this error: "An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV.(17)"
4. I updated my graphics drivers, reset game settings, optimized and defragmented my drive, no luck.
5. I've been with Chat Support all morning (Feb 25th) and followed their suggestions, which included disabling anti-virus and firewalls, and opening up ports, no luck.
6. Try the "switch data center" fix, no luck.
7. I can still login with alternate characters on the same server.

Just posting here, since the hotfix that occurred on the 25th I am having the exact same issue. I log in, can play normally for a few (2-3) hours and then the game just randomly crashes with the exact same error as poster. Before the patch I have never had any crashes with the game. I tried verifying my PC file integrity, nothing found. I updated my graphics card driver, I removed and reinstalled the game but the error keeps coming back. It happened in Void Ark a few times, and on the last boss in the Arboretum dungeon. It looks like some sort of memory leak since it only starts happening after a given time and not immediately when I log into the game.

I play on PC, Intel i5 2500k, GTX770 graphics card. As said, before the hotfix I had never had a crash with this game, and now it starts getting to the point that it's really frustrating..

just happened to me, I was standing in pillars after completing the 3.2 story and was teleporting to tail feather when it then happened, and I cant get back on, it starts loading me in but then it happens again.
