There is hope guys in 1.20 due to party search being added so that should encourage increased grind parties which should alleviate some of the stress. I agree gladiator isnt fun but thankfully I had mine at 35 before the 1.19 patch. My pain is lvling Pug as I am 28 and crawling toward 30. I absolutely hated lancer until I got Doomspike II and into the the mid 30s. I have 3 classes in the mid to late 30s (MRD GLA and LNC) so hopefully the 40s will be much better.
