You won't level MCH due to vanity?....
This is actually why we can't have nice things.

Aesthetics and peeves like this can be the deciding factor on what jobs people want to play, especially if the two jobs are extremely comparable. The gauss barrel is another factor for me on why I didn't look forward to upgrading my weapon for a point in time (the other being the fact that it wasn't an upgrade despite a higher ilvl)

Was the snark really necessary?
That aside, I don't like the barrel look either. I mean there are SOME guns it looks okay on, and I understand it's hard to design something that's going to look right on every single weapon, but the majority it ends up looking a bit strange on. When I recently upgraded to the Ferdinand thanks to the easy access of weapon Gobdip I was surprised at how ugly it looked on that, especially considering it's their signature weapon.
And +1 Wildfire animation. Bards got their casting motions improved, let's get some MCH love.
It wouldn't be so bad if the Barrel actually ended up on the end of ALL guns. For many guns it kinda floats off detached from the actual muzzle... really looks silly.
As for what has been said about the holding, yes they need to fix that. Even when you fire it one-handed you fire it wrong compared to how you'd one hand fire a pistol IRL. (Free hand rests on your hip for balance, anyone who has taken PAL/Gun safety courses knows this). Not that you'd be reasonably able to fire a gun that size one handed....
It's irked me to no end how everything regarding a machinist holding/firing their gun is entirely off from how you ACTUALLY handle firearms IRL.
P.S. Though I think it's silly to not level the class just cause of aesthetics.... :P
is true my gat looks terrible with that damn floating dish, please let us toggle it off!

I would like to formally agree to add my voice to this thought.
1.) Gauss barrel aesthetic should have a toggle option so I can choose not to see a stupid spinning top floating magically infront of my COMPLETELY AWESOME GUN.
2.) I would like to see a bigger explosion or better animation AND sound effect to wildfire. The enemy needs to explode in a fireball. I just dropped 40k on the enemy. I want to SEE them hurt. Ricochet animation and sound is amazing. Why did you stop there? The skill, the attention to detail from sound to animation to colors to effects...all of that effort stopped after ricochet, I feel like.
Sincerely,
-me
I was gonna make a separate thread for it, but on the subject of visual improvements for MCH, can we please have a more sensible running animation? Aside from the fact that our weapon arm does not move at all while in motion, it's a very impractical way to carry our guns. On top of that, the form factor (long barreled pistols/carbines/musketoons) would imply our weapons would have a bit of weight to them. Thus running with the weapon at the ready (i.e. much like the Hyur/Miqo'te female weapon pose) would be far more practical and visually appealing.
I'd be so happy if they held the weapon with both hands as a default.I was gonna make a separate thread for it, but on the subject of visual improvements for MCH, can we please have a more sensible running animation? Could we also fix the casting animation? The gun wiggle makes no sense. Have them use the Reload animation or simply aim the gun straight.
I personally like the Gauss Barrel attachment; I think it looks good on my magitek repeater and wootz revolver. However, a toggle option is totally reasonable and probably should have been available from the beginning of 3.0.
Actually, having different looking GBs for different types of guns would be pretty cool. Such as the Ferdinand having a "double barreled" type of GB to fit it's aesthetic~
