Augmented vs. Non Augmented + Materia

I'm assuming that when we upgrade out Lore gear that we'll lose our Materia melded to this. I don't recall seeing one way or another on this, can anyone confirm or deny? Apologies if someone has already asked.

I know it's been asked about on Reddit, not sure about here. The general assumption is that since it's treated as new item, it would need to be re-melded.

The question I haven't personally seen come up is if it has the normal melding requirements of needing the appropriate crafting class leveled.
