Questions about the Warrior of Light's current state [HERE BE SPOILERS YO!]

So Heavensward has already shown us that the Warrior of Light is not as stoic as we thought. Not only did we get to choose how they react to certain scenes, but even their stoic persona cracked when Haurchefant died. 3.2 is showing us even more of the Warrior of Light's thoughts so to speak where he wanted to punch Emmallain in the face for going on a self pity parade. It's interesting to see our character reacting to things like this and it has me wondering how else it will develop. What do you think?

In the Grand Melee event, there's a "buff" in place for you called Brilliant Conviction, which says "Breaking limits as only a true Warrior of Light could". Now we know at the end of 3.0 that the Warrior of Light has gotten so strong that Thordan was almost speechless at how he lost to them despite all the power he got from the dragon eye and prayers. Reading that buff has me wondering just how much more power are we going to get?

As protagonists the answer to that question is always "As much as we need, when the plot demands"...

Actually, its kinda interesting that Unulkalhai seems honestly surprised at just what we're capable of after the fight with Sephirot...and from his dialogue it almost seems like he's a bit envious...I need to watch the cutscene again for the exact wording, but if I'm recalling right he also said something that made it sound like he's either been through a similar trial and failed, or that he's surprised a "true hero" like us could exist...

I need to see it again to make sure my memory isn't fuzzy (I saw it last night after staying up all night the night before for the patch, so...my memory may be a bit sleep deprived...)

I think what he was saying was he wishes he could be a hero like us. Since he's a child (apparently), he can't do a lot.

Yeah, the dark aura on his staff from that cutscene and him staring down Legatus Funkyhat says othewise to me...heh

The whole "mystery" surrounding him...and Krile's comments during and after that conversation...I think we were actually seeing some honesty out of him...and then he put his "mystery" walls back up afterwards.

So...Don't know what to think right now. Needs more story progression...but it was an interesting moment in that story all the same.

Aside from the fact we almost punched Emmannelain in the face before he smacked Thancred (and got decked in turn), the WoL is starting to slip into depression if his/her delayed and unenthusiastic reaction to Aymeric's offer to join the Grand Melee is any indication. Given all the shit that's been heaped on him/her... it's not surprising.

At least Alphinaud is coming around to the idea that it doesn't have to be this way...

I was actually grinning when I saw the WOL wanting to deck Emmallain in the face and took a snapshot to frame it:

We can see that the WOL is starting to show people exactly how they feel and I got a feeling that they may start to make their own decisions very soon. What was once a blank slate is now slowly becoming a character in itself. I can't wait to see where the writers are going to go with this.

I think from here on is going to be "our" choice. We'll still be on rails, but I want to believe that the WoL is going to go in the direction players started asking for after we were shown to be in passive agreement with the really bad decisions made by certain major characters (I know mine, but it varies). Funny thing is, there are enough recurring elements and thematic parallels that I think this was planned from the start, but we had to get properly rooted in the mindset the story wants to deconstruct before it was actually going to go there. I just hope this means that the teased possibility of coming back to some of those decisions becomes a reality in 4.0.

Ever since having to leave Ul'dah and illustrated in the DRK questline the WoL is starting to get tired of people's stupid shit. And that Eorzea might not be all that great a place to be in anyway. Especially if a lot of big figures are utterly reliant on the WoL to do everything for them.

So much this! Since Heavensward launched, and all the MSQ up to now, It's really setting the stage for our WoL to just say: "Screw it all, I'm leaving! Deal with your own crap for awhile!" Which would be perfect for the next expansion being 'at sea.' Our WoLs get on a boat and just sails away. We are adventurers first and foremost after all. Probably find some new land, become some hero there and by the time we are done fixing their problems, we head back to Eorzea, to find it in shambles.

As much as people want this, it won't happen. Even if the WOL did leave, they'll just be doing odd jobs for other people in a new land, so no different from what they do now outside of world saving. Eorzea isn't going to get ruined again anytime soon since there won't be any major world changing events for the sake of keeping things consistent for everyone no matter where they are in the story.
