Agreed! There should be some type of in game survey system in place to gauge actual players feeling about content and job changes. In addition to this I think SE should post the results of said surveys here on the forums or on lodestone.

Japanese games don't have user researchers. As a UXR, I'm actually really shocked at how well the FFXIV team takes player feedback into account when they don't actually do any player research. They are way ahead of games that do (and the execs won't listen to the researchers or just employ the researchers to find out how to squeeze money out of players)
They do do player research, it's called forums. No, I'm not trolling or joking.Japanese games don't have user researchers. This necro is actually great. There SHOULD be temperature checks.

I'm convinced they do actually do surveys, but those being surveyed don't know they're being surveyed.

Why have you necro'd this thread?

I smell necromancy in the air!
But a major patch survey would be interesting to see; like perhaps put it somewhere in-game; I don't know how they'd implement something like that so it would be useful data to them.
I somehow suspect the forums over on the Japanese-side might have more insights for them? I mean they do also have those Live Letters; I wonder if they get something useful from their Japanese audiences during those.

Job changes.
What are those?
