I'll admit I'm a little surprised that a full i180 set cannot meet the minimum stat requirements for 3*, but Crafting needs to have SOME sort of progression, something it hasn't had for a while. From the start if you correctly melded the white gear you could meet the minimum stat requirements for everything up to and including 2-Stars, which in reality meant there was never a need to get ANY i170 or i180 gear until this patch other than saving some gil.

They're also releasing i180 OHs which will likely cover the stat gap, and if they don't then a i170 OH overmelded + food will meet the minimum cap. That's not a lot to ask, considering how much cheaper the mats are and the fact that we've had MONTHS to obtain i170 gear. I will agree that the i180 Accessories are a joke as they are easily matched or beaten by safe melds on the white accessories.

Except you can. Unless you're not counting 170 accessories, since those don't have 180 versions. But a 180 left side and 170 right side is more than enough to be 3 star ready.

That a means of removing all the Materia from an item exists in game does not invalidate my point : that without having known what the craft/control req's were going to be, it is entirely possible that people, months ago, used T4 Materia and got too much craft, not enough control, in their melds.

That circumstance is a failed attempt at the future-proofing someone was scoffing at someone else for not having done.

Actually there are 180 accessories according to data-mining websites. They are full CP - no materia slots, no craft/control. They're pretty laughable.

There's a new food called an "Oyster Confit" that gives 70 control and 30 craftsmanship normal quality.

So I stand by what I said: Yes you can.

That link doesn't even take into account melds on the accessories though, so again, you've backed my point further. :P

I think I heard about that but you'd have to be pretty stupid to buy those TBH if you can't meld them.

Melds are easily fixable and that's honestly a terrible point. If you melded before this patch you should have known the risks in doing so. I also find it super farfetched that anyone who crafts is too poor to fix some melds. So again: their own fault.

I would assume that blueruckus is just referring to the ability to swap specialties. Having more souls lying around gives you the option to change one out if you need to. New specialist recipes make you want to move to a different one, or if you're willing to take the huge hit to your RCS progression, swap to a specialization to make a truckload of a specialist crafted mat and then switch back to use them.

I personally stockpiled three souls before the patch as a futureproofing measure, so I could completely change out what my specialties were given the new recipes. Haven't decided whether to use them yet, but I'm glad for the option.

Ofcourse it doesn't take melds into account, since it's i180 unmeldable gear
And needing 3-star HQ food to get to the minimum requirements is kinda silly (since the NQ version leaves the crafter at 819 control)

try Beet Soup HQ (29 craft, 68 control) and you will get 860/836.

See, I didn't even know they were adding 180 accessories to the game. But as I said earlier, you'd have to be /really/ stupid to buy those. So I feel it's not that big of a deal, just get the 170s made. If you're aspiring to be a 3 star crafter, a simple 2 star carpenter craft shouldn't be out of your reach...

(Also people have been using food to cheese requirements since 2.0 so I don't see that as a big deal either.)
