PC and Mac versions...

Hello, guys.

I play this game on a PC, but use a MacBook sometimes, so I was wondering if I could download this game on the Mac as well? The same licence etc..

Or is running an emulator required?

Assuming you're running OS X on the MacBook, you are supposed to buy the Mac version (currently half price) and add the Mac key to your account. The Mac version used to use the same authentication as the Windows one but I'm pretty sure that was temporary and they're now separate.

Yep you need to either buy the Mac version (as well as HW - I think they have a bundle though) and then you can play on either system with the same subscription.

Or you can just Bootcamp your Mac to put Windows on it and use the existing Windows licence with that, the only thing is you need to reboot into Windows each time you want to play it.

(the licence is per platform, per account, not number of computers)

Anyone know when the new Mac Version will be released? Think they abandon the old version because it was very terribly optimized and unplayable.

Bootcamp it. The Mac client was a distaster when they released it; practically unplayable. I haven't been following it, so it may have improved. However, Bootcamping your Mac to run in Windpws is easy and stable. And as an added bonus to using Bootcamp with FFXIV you won't have to pay again for a license.

I might give it a try. I would rather not play while having to use Mac than buying a separate version though. Have never played a game where that is required.. O.o
