I failed on my first attempt on the new striking dummy

I got it down to 8% before my time expired. So the game told me I failed the objective. I told the game in vulgar terms to commit maternal incest and canine bestiality.

Not really, but it did serve as a wake up call that my BLM rotation could use some work.

I did some A4S dummy (i209 DRK - fending / parry), been able to kill it from 4s left (no food no pots) to 10s left (cheap food & pot , no party buff). Sample: 17 kills.

It was a nice experience i would like to share:

1. Work on your opener : i noticed that the dummy should have a max of 90% HP when my potion goes off. Perhaps you should start by working on it.

2. Pay attention to priorities, aka as DRK "will I have enough MP to buff the next souleater or should i delirium?". Try to figure out how to pop your buffs in the right order. Helps a lot.

3. Keep an eye on your DOTs. They should be refreshed. My best times were with smart DOT management (buffing salted earth each time possible)

4. I figured out that the best kills were the ones with more crits (obvious?) . Perhaps you should check your stats.

I dont raid but i dont want to be a dead weight for people so im happy that my dps is kinda valid too (since my tanking is already decent afaik)

I did the A4s one as PLD, but I can't help but wonder if it's designed to just be dps'ed or if you're meant to treat it like you would an actual enemy, like for the entire thing I was in sword oath and only did goring blade and Royal authority. But in the actual A4s I'd obviously not do that, I'd be in shield oath sometimes and using rage of halone. Does the trial account for that or am I just supposed to straight dps it like I did?

I dont have the HP amount of the PLD version but the DRK version has 148 960 HP and the WAR version has 160 000 HP.

That means that the DRK dummy expects us to push 827 dps post nerf. If you were pushing 1035 dps ungrouped unbuffed on dummy prior to nerf that would be good since we saw a flat 20% decrease in dps.

Those figures on a 3 minutes run seem unlikely to get with Grit or whatever tank stance for a non WAR tank, even if you stayed only 20s in Grit i think but perhaps am i wrong here.

Go full dps bro. Just like healers are not supposed to throw heals during their SSS dummy parse i think we re not supposed to throw aggro moves on it.

I would also like to point out - if you're still struggling with the dummies (like if you're failing A4S at 1% like I was for a while yesterday) I find that food and potions help. I realize that these aren't exactly limitless, however, and as such people might not want to resort to that for a simple striking dummy, but it's something to consider.
